CMG Philippines upgrades Internet infrastructure

CMG

Integrated financial services provider, CMG Philippines, offers the convenience of one number, which you dial to talk to one agent to get customized and innovative solutions across a wide range of financial services, be it life insurance, pension, education plans, health care, or credit cards.

Yet, like most other leaders in their respective businesses, CMG keeps looking for ways to enhance the customer experience. One of the company's applications, CMG's Eligilibity and Claim System Interface (ECSI), rides on the Internet.

The ECSI is undergoing an upgrade from the dial-in system to an Internet application to make the system faster, more extensive, and more accessible. For CMG, the choice was Cisco for the equipment and Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. through its networking and communications subsidiary, WeSolv Open Computing, for the network integration and support.

Those choices were easy: Cisco is a world leader in networking technology, and the chosen products - a Cisco 3640 and 2620 and a Catalyst 2924 - on the basis of their cost-effectiveness, reliability, and scalability. Reliability is a particularly important feature because the system is designed for 24x7 operations, in contrast with the dial-in system.

On the other hand, FPI/WeSolv is well known in the industry for the ability to provide the best service and support. During the pre-sales activities, which include demo of the units offered, CMG was impressed with the fast response of FPI/WeSolv staff to CMG's requirement. Furthermore, FPI/WeSolv engineers were able to provide timely and fast resolution of the problems presented.

These systems will be installed in their Head Office at the Philippine Stock Exchange Center (PSEC) in the Ortigas Center. The Cisco 3640 and 2620 are to be used as the company's Internet router and VLAN router respectively, and the Catalyst for their switching.

CMG began its corporate life as Lincoln Philippines Life in 1965. It subsequently became Jardine CMG in 1990, and then CMG in 1997, following CMG Asia's full acquisition of the business. CMG is wholly owned by Commonwealth Bank, the largest financial services group in Australia, with almost US$170 billion in assets and a presence in sixteen markets.
