Disaster Recovery Services

The challenge

When critical IT services like order entry, help desk, transaction processing and Web sites are unavailable, the consequences can be devastating. Lost sales and plummeting customer satisfaction are virtually inevitable unless your business has a disaster recovery site from which critical IT services can be resumed.

The solution

The uninterrupted delivery of key IT services is important and in many cases critical to an organisation’s brand and statutory obligations. Fujitsu’s disaster recovery services ensure that essential IT functions remain available and that your business can continue to operate in the face of major system failures at your primary site.

Fujitsu’s secure data centre facilities provide business recovery sites in most state capitals. Regardless of platform or system, Fujitsu can supply a cost-effective recovery solution to meet your needs, based on connection to dedicated or shared systems within our data centres.

Service delivery approach

Your engagement with Fujitsu begins with a Business Impact Analysis. This identifies which IT services underpin your core business processes and must therefore be replicated within a disaster recovery site.

Working with your business operations managers, a Fujitsu consultant will help to clarify the dependencies of the business on IT infrastructure and resources. A threat assessment identifies scenarios around which business recovery plans can be developed. These scenarios may range in scale from the failure of a single piece of equipment to the loss of an entire site.

Once the dependencies are understood, recovery strategies are developed. The strategies are assessed against the cost of lost business, lost records or reduced customer satisfaction to determine an appropriate level of investment in business recovery systems and services.

Following the definition of a recovery strategy, a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) will be developed. This document defines the events and processes that will be triggered in the case of a disaster. The comprehensive plan will define:

  • The ongoing process of developing, testing and implementing procedures to ensure the availability of critical business functions
  • Event escalation and management control
  • The IT resources to be provided from the disaster recovery site
  • Key personnel, responsibilities, checklists for each recovery team and instructions for each IT resource
