From the CEO - A stronger Fujitsu delivers results for customers

By Rod Vawdrey, CEO, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand

At Fujitsu, we are always looking for opportunities to improve business outcomes for our customers, whether it's through deploying new technology or enhancing our proven service methodologies. We also keep our eyes open for ways to streamline our own organisation to improve service delivery and our unique value proposition.

No doubt many of you have read recent reports about the merger between Fujitsu and DMR Consulting in Australia and New Zealand (Fujitsu strengthens services and solutions delivery in Australia and New Zealand).

Many companies undergoing mergers assure their customers that it is business as usual. In this instance, we believe it's anything but business as usual.

Combining Fujitsu's traditional breadth of expertise, nationwide delivery capabilities and leading-edge IT infrastructure services with the world-class methodologies and strategic impetus of DMR Consulting creates one of the broadest sources of strategic technology services and advice to emerge on the Australasian IT landscape for many years. The new organisation harnesses the best aspects of two complementary companies - business acumen, customer focus, technical expertise and global experience - into a single, integrated organisation.

Starting at the top, we have worked hard to create an integrated services business that is unstinting in its dedication to achieving the best results for every customer. As Chief Executive Officer, I am working with incoming Chairman Alan Baxter to ensure the new Fujitsu in Australia and New Zealand has a leadership team that blends the strengths of both companies' executive ranks. In addition, we have added several highly qualified new managers to inject fresh perspective and energy.

We are delighted to welcome Alan back to Australia from his success as Chief Operating Officer of Fujitsu Consulting globally. Alan comes home with years of experience managing a team that provides strategic IT advice to some of the world's largest and most dynamic enterprises.

The commercial know-how of the new management team is driving Fujitsu's commitment to provide customers with the highest quality in outsourcing, strategic advice, business process reform, service delivery and technology. We continue to focus on delivering genuine business value for all our clients, with particular industry focus on government, retail, financial services, transport and distribution, manufacturing, utilities and telecommunications.

Our realignment coincides with the retirement of longstanding Fujitsu Australia Chairman, Neville Roach. Many of you know Neville well through his 24 years of service that has seen Fujitsu Australia grow into one of the country's largest and most successful technology and services organisations. Along the way, Neville oversaw the smooth integration of ICL Pacific and Amdahl.

On behalf of everyone at Fujitsu, I would like to formally acknowledge our gratitude to Neville, who continues to be involved with the Australian IT industry through the boards of various development initiatives, including AARNet, National ICT Australia and the Smart Internet Technology research centre.

As we launch into a new chapter for Fujitsu, I look forward to helping you draw maximum business advantage from our unmatched breadth of technology and depth of skills and experience.
