Fujitsu Powers the Data-Enriched World with New CELSIUS Workstations

News facts:
  • The industry’s smallest VR-ready desktop workstation, Fujitsu CELSIUS W580power+, delivers performance, serviceability and reliability, powering Virtual Reality applications for CAD engineers, architects and designers.
  • No compromise between power and size: the CELSIUS J580 is the world’s only Small Form Factor workstation to pack a full-height graphics card into a 10-litre design.
Sydney, December 10, 2018 – Fujitsu has introduced new models to its CELSIUS workstation portfolio. Combining powerful computing capabilities with extra strong security features, Fujitsu CELSIUS workstations are the ideal platform for accelerating innovation and data-rich design for immersive visualisation experiences such as virtual reality (VR).

The new workstations include the microtower CELSIUS W580/W580power+ and the Small Form Factor CELSIUS J580. Both models build in the latest technologies from Intel and NVIDIA, advancing workstations to a new era of processing and graphics accelerated computing. At the same time, Fujitsu has maximised physical and biometric security, enabling secure working for an increasingly mobile workforce and meeting even the strictest compliance requirements.

Across the line-up, Fujitsu’s new CELSIUS workstations offer biometric authentication – a further measure to protect against data loss in case of device or password theft, in addition to an integrated Smart Card reader and the secure cryptoprocessor TPM 2.0. Fujitsu offers a keyboard with a built-in PalmSecure sensor, plus no less than three lock mechanisms: a key, a Kensington or a padlock. In addition, ports and cables on the rear of the CELSIUS W580 microtower are protected by a lockable cable cover.

Digitalisation is driving increasing use of large and complex data sets, with some of the biggest data packages being generated in the fields of 3D CAD modeling, visualisation, as well as content creation in the media and entertainment industries. The new line-up of Fujitsu CELSIUS workstations is optimised for multiple processor cores which helps ensure that application software and tools can make full use of graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration. Fujitsu has designed the new workstations to perform flawlessly with large amounts of data, for uses including recording high-resolution videos, projecting on big display walls and creating 3D models from scans. These are tasks where workstations are the only choice, since the size of the data sets is beyond the capabilities of standard desktop computers and laptops – while the use of VR is pushing these limits even further.

Joe Ciardi, Product Manager for Client Computing Devices at Fujitsu Oceania, says: “We are seeing Virtual Reality being used more and more in a range of industries to bring stories to life, create innovative new designs and build experiences with enriched data. Our new CELSIUS models are built to handle this with all the graphics power needed packed into a compact and portable workstation. Cybercrime is also on the rise and organisations are facing penalities for data breaches. Users are looking for the highest level of protection possible to defend themselves against intellectual property theft, which is why we boosted the security for this new line of CELSIUS workstations. We have integrated our unique biometric technology PalmSecure, which is more accurate than fingerprint authentication and more convenient than iris scanning.”

Fujitsu CELSIUS W580/W580power+

As the industry’s smallest VR-ready desktop workstation, the Fujitsu CELSIUS W580/W580power+1, is designed to outperform its 21-litre microtower size. Customers can choose between the low power consumption (280W) model and the cable-free model, which offers cold-plug front access to hard drives for easy replacement or upgrade. This workstation offers maximum productivity and short turn-around times for video editing, MCAD/electrical CAD and applications in architecture, engineering and construction, and is capable of supporting virtual reality. Its small size, whisper-quiet operation and VR capabilities also make it the workstation of choice for education environments.

Fujitsu Workstation CELSIUS J580

The Fujitsu Workstation CELSIUS J5802 is a small form factor desktop workstation optimised for 2D and 3D CAD designs, and for connection to multiple displays. Despite its compact 10-litre design, it supports a full-height graphics card of up to NVIDIA Quadro P2000 supporting 1024 CUDA cores, making it the world’s only small form factor workstation boasting performance at such a level. It also supports up to 11 displays, which is ideal for control rooms, surveillance, trading floors and showrooms with the need to highlight 4k content on a display wall.

All Fujitsu CELSIUS workstations are engineered and manufactured in Germany and designed for 24/7 usage. They are certified and optimised for use with leading software applications including Autodesk, Dassault Systèmes, PTC and Siemens PLM.

Pricing and availability

The new Fujitsu CELSIUS workstations can be ordered immediately, directly from Fujitsu and through channel partners. Pricing varies by configuration.
