Fujitsu wins Verve Energy contract to design energy Trading Management System

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, October 27, 2009

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology and communications solutions has today announced its partnership with Western Australia’s largest electricity generation company, Verve Energy to design its new Energy Trading Management System.

The Energy Trading Management System is a mission critical application for Verve Energy and central to their core business, operating power stations across the state, including four major power stations at Kwinana, Cockburn, Pinjar and Muja.

Verve Energy Managing Director Shirley In’t Veld welcomed the long term partnership and described it as an example of Verve Energy’s leadership in using the latest technologies available to enhance business processes and a further commitment to implementing environmentally sustainable business practices.

“This contract will deliver significant benefits for Verve Energy and for the State of Western Australia,” Ms In’t Veld said.

This is the first phase of an important project that will include development, implementation and support. The project consists of a six month design phase followed by twelve months of construction to build the system. The technology is .Net on Oracle database and the system has tight performance requirements, incorporating new technologies being developed by Fujitsu architects and developers.

“Fujitsu is honoured to win the contract with Verve Energy and is thrilled to be working with this business icon in Western Australia,” states Robert Lislois, General Manager Western Australia, Fujitsu Australia. “Our strength in innovation, along side our leading technologies and commitment to the local industry in Western Australia has secured an exciting and robust partnership with Verve Energy.”
