Fujitsu appoints Ross Goodfellow to drive Converged Network Solutions

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, March 08, 2006

Fujitsu Australia today announced the appointment of Ross Goodfellow as Manager, Network Convergence and Security. This appointment reinforces Fujitsu’s position as a leading provider in the rapidly growing market for converged network and security services for enterprise and government customers. The convergence of data, voice, video and remote access networks, in a secure unified environment, is one of the greatest challenges facing businesses today.

Ross joins Fujitsu with a distinguished 30 year career in the IT and Communications industries, where he has held business management, sales, marketing and technical roles. Ross has worked extensively in Australia and New Zealand, as well as India, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States.

Prior to joining Fujitsu, Ross was Regional Director, Asia Pacific with Infonet Services Corporation, one of the world’s leading managed network services firms, which was recently acquired by British Telecom. Ross successfully developed Telstra’s national and international reseller channels for Infonet and was responsible for developing Infonet’s business in India, one of Infonet’s leading markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Peter McFarlane, Executive General Manager – Infrastructure Services, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand said, “Fujitsu has a long history in voice and data networking and understands the subtle complexities of voice delivery and network integration. Leveraging this experience and our current capabilities in the area of network convergence and security, we are expanding the range of converged network solutions we offer to provide a comprehensive range of managed data, voice, security and mobility solutions which we will deliver as an integral part of our total business services outsourcing capability.”

Ross Goodfellow, Manager, Network Convergence and Security said “Organisations today face a kind of “communications chaos”, where there are disparate networks, multiple suppliers, SLAs, helpdesks and contracts, and the huge expense that comes with trying to manage and operate these. Overarching this of course is the need to support critical business applications inside and outside the domain of the enterprise – and all this must be controlled under a stringent security umbrella.

“Fujitsu’s Converged Network Solutions group helps customers unify and simplify multiple and diverse data, voice and remote access networks. This ensures both immediate and ongoing cost savings while simplifying the complexity of network management and creating a highly secure and future proof infrastructure to support critical business applications,” said Ross Goodfellow.

“With his wealth of experience in the provision of global managed network services, Ross is a great addition to Fujitsu’s Australian and New Zealand operation. He is responsible for defining our expanded offerings in the Converged Network Solutions space and in driving the network convergence business, which we predict will grow to be a significant part of our Infrastructure Services revenue within the next three years,” said Peter McFarlane.

Prior to joining Infonet, Ross worked for many years with Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA) and was responsible for establishing SITA’s commercial division Equant Network Services in the Australasian region.

Ross holds a Bachelors degree from the University of New England, majoring in Economic History and Computing Science, and a Diploma of Business Management from the Australian Institute of Management. Before pursuing a career in IT&T, Ross graduated as an officer in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Australian Navy.
