Fujitsu Low Cost Scanners Named Products of the Year

Fujitsu Australia Limited,Fujitsu New Zealand Limited

Europe, January 09, 2003

Fujitsu's new document scanners, the fi-4120C and fi-4220C, have been named as Product of the Year 2002 in Transform magazine's Scan & Capture category.

Fujitsu's scanners won the Scan & Capture Product of the Year because they are "the most affordable scanners in the departmental class. Both models scan in duplex and Fujitsu broke new ground with a dual SCSI/USB 1.1 interface." The winners were chosen for their bold innovation or industry-leading value and the judges, including leading industry experts, took account of themes such as the need for return on investment and effective integration.

Additional features of the scanners that were also commended included the exceptional speed of both scanners, double-feed detection that gauges both paper length and thickness and onboard JPEG compression. But, as Transform magazine says, "The icing on the cake for these scanners is that Fujitsu includes the full version of Adobe Acrobat 5.0 ... that lets you turn your images into text-searchable PDFs."

Launched mid-2002, the scanners are aimed at businesses that need to scan in a variety of office documents as part of a low cost, document management solution. They are also perfectly suited for more sophisticated document management and workflow solutions where scanners are needed at a user or workgroup level.

With fast scanning speeds of 25ppm in both mono (at 200 dpi) and colour (at 150 dpi) the fi-4120C and fi-4220C enable users to reliably scan quantities of up to 1,000 documents per day. The exceptional high capacity paper handling, high productivity and selectable RGB colour dropout makes form processing simple. To improve productivity, the scanners' dual CCDs scan both sides of a document at once and are photograph-friendly.

The fi-4120C, with true 600dpi optical resolution, offers scan speeds of up to 25 pages per minute (ppm) at 200dpi in mono or greyscale, and 25ppm at 150dpi in full colour. The fi-4220C offers identical speeds, plus a flatbed for the scanning of bound or very delicate documents.

Note: The fi-4220C is not currently available in Australasia.
