Fujitsu leder an revolusjon for organisasjoner med mange arbeidsplasser

Fujitsu’s FUTRO C400 Redefines Multi Workplace Computing

The FUTRO C400 shares computing power between users, saving hardware costs, management time and minimizing user downtime

Munich, October 6, 2010 – Fujitsu today redefines the economies of multi workplace computing with the introduction of the FUTRO C400, an ultra thin client that delivers a full desktop experience across multiple workplaces at a fraction of the cost of an array of entry-level PCs. Ideal for schools and small and medium sized companies that need maximize their IT budgets to get the lowest cost per seat, the FUTRO C400 allows a powerful central PC’s resources to be shared between users, dramatically reducing hardware and management costs.

Targeting small businesses, schools, libraries and organizations with limited IT staff and expertise, Fujitsu’s multi workplace computing environment has very minimal hardware requirements for set-up. Organizations only need a single host desktop PC such as an Fujitsu ESPRIMO model, along with FUTRO C400 units and displays for each workplace. The host PC acts as a central server, helping to ensure that overall system costs are lower than any other solution.

With today’s PCs being so powerful that the average user only taps a small percentage of the available power, even when sharing computing resources in a multi workplace computing environment, end users will still enjoy good performance when using standard desktop applications such as office software, and internet browsers. Depending on the PC’s configuration, a single unit can host up to 30 simultaneous users.

Sharing computing resources between users also reduces management costs: software is managed centrally, making it easy to maintain. Individual sessions are secured and protected against intrusion from other users.

With a footprint the size of a CD case and no moving parts, FUTRO C400 ultra thin clients consume less power, use less energy than even the most-efficient PC, generate less heat and since they have no moving parts, are totally silent in operation and have a very high reliability rate. Should a device fail, it can be quickly and easily replaced without the need for any manual reconfiguration, helping to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Rajat Kakar, Vice President Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “We have focused on driving down costs, using ultra thin client technology. The FUTRO C400 is ideal for SMBs and schools that want to benefit from a thin client infrastructure but may not have a server-based back-end.”

Fujitsu’s FUTRO C400 will be available across the CEMEA &I region from November 24, 2010.
