With New Fujitsu Power Appliance for SAP® Adaptive Server® Enterprise, Customers Can Benefit from Fast Transaction Processing Performance, Data Center Optimization and Reduced TCO

April 15, 2014

Fujitsu, a leading information and communication technology (ICT) company, today unveiled FUJITSU Server Power Appliance for SAP® Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP ASE). This pre-configured, pre-tested server and storage appliance can significantly help reduce the complexity, risk, time-to-functionality and total cost of ownership (TCO) for enterprises looking for substantially faster transaction processing performance. Developed in cooperation with SAP, LSI and Violin Memory for Flash memory and Red Hat for Linux, Fujitsu’s new offering will be shown at the ISUG-TECH Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.A.), April 14-17.
The FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE can significantly reduce TCO and provide business continuity, as it is factory configured and installed to help eliminate a high degree of overhead related to system administration. Supporting new, high-performance applications and increasing server utilization, the system’s extreme transaction processing capability is aided by the latest processor and storage systems that can handle multiple workloads.
For businesses looking to quickly update the latest hardware and database software, the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE is a pre-packaged solution. In addition, the deployment of the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE can significantly reduce installation time. It is pre-optimized for different workloads – high-performance, consolidation, and system upgrades – and available in three configurations to suit varying market requirements. High-availability and disaster-recovery functionalities will also be pre-loaded on the appliance, ready to be enabled with an optional second appliance to maximize availability for mission-critical data and workloads.
Cameron McNaught, Executive Vice President, Solutions, Fujitsu
“The FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE is one of the first pre-packaged solutions to provide enterprises such as financial institutions, healthcare providers and telecommunications companies with the rock-solid, ultra-fast transaction processing performance of SAP ASE. Fujitsu can help companies streamline installation and reduce total cost of ownership, thereby maintaining business continuity.”
Karl-Heinz Hoffmann, Vice President, SAP Database Go to Market, SAP
“Organizations worldwide run their businesses using SAP ASE for faster, more reliable data processing, notably in the financial and e-commerce sectors. The FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE can help make it easier and faster for companies to upgrade their transaction processing performance and lower their data center operating costs.”
Erik Randles, Vice President, Violin Memory
"Violin Memory will provide flash storage arrays as part of the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE, which will help accelerate customer access to critical business information. With Violin All Flash Arrays, customers using SAP ASE can scale at a lower total cost of ownership and a higher level of transactional performance as data and numbers of users grow."
Jim Totton, Vice President & General Manager, Platform Business Unit, Red Hat
“At Red Hat, we understand the ever-growing need for enhanced transaction processing performance, as Red Hat Enterprise Linux forms the backbone of these operations across many industries, including financial services and telecommunications providers. We are pleased to support Fujitsu in their latest efforts to streamline transaction processing at the enterprise level through the launch of FUJITSU Server Power Appliance for SAP ASE.”

Jas Tremblay, Vice President of Marketing, Datacenter Solutions Group, LSI Corporation
“LSI is excited to expand our strategic relationships with Fujitsu and SAP to bring LSI Nytro PCIe flash acceleration solutions to the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE. Nytro cards further accelerate many enterprise applications throughout the world by providing customers with the unique combination of performance, endurance and usability they require. The Nytro powered appliance can deliver substantially higher transactions per minute, which can result in a greater ROI for customers worldwide.”
