  • Built-in powerful GI processor for enhanced productivity, high quality images and fast operation
  • “Scan-to-Everywhere”: integrate third-party applications into the Quick Menu
  • Runs with Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android

PFU Imaging Solutions today introduces the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500, a document capturing solution that makes it easier than ever for companies to adopt digital workflows. The new document scanner saves users time by converting stacks of paper documents at the touch of a button into PDF files. Simply insert the paper, press a button, and paper documents are promptly delivered to Android or iOS based tablets and smartphones, either directly via its new Wi-Fi capability or via PC or Mac. It features “Scan-to-Everywhere” with one-touch operation: The ScanSnap Manager software makes it possible to integrate third-party applications directly into the Quick Menu and select the document destination with a single click or finger touch. User productivity is enhanced by automated image optimisation: The scanned documents are processed and enhanced in the scanner to provide the highest quality images, saving processing time in the tablet or smartphone. The ScanSnap iX500 also features USB 3.0 support for fast data transfer to a PC or Mac.

One-button operation

Insert the paper, press the blue scan button on the ScanSnap or in the ScanSnap Connect Application and documents appear promptly on the device of choice. The simple one-button operation requires no technical skills on the part of the user, an important requirement for a device that may be shared by several people. Whether users are at the reception desk or in a conference room, they can quickly digitise paper documents and then share them with others as needed. Users can also connect their smartphones or tablets to the scanner via the ScanSnap iX500’s built-in Wi-Fi interface. Images from paper-based documents will then land directly on the mobile Android or iOS device in PDF or JPG format.

Going digital = going productive

The ScanSnap iX500 is an ideal solution for companies seeking a highly professional document capture solution for digitising their workflows. The system immediately integrates paper-based documents – from a business card to A3 sheets – into digital processes, meaning users won’t waste valuable time on administration. The new document scanner features intelligent functions that accelerate the entire capture process and help users become more productive. Among those functions are intelligent cropping, automatic rotation of documents which are inserted skewed or upside down, and indexing to automatically generate PDF key words for quick and easy searches.

Quick Menu offers easy access

ScanSnap users are now able to integrate third-party software into the Quick Menu with just a few clicks of a mouse. Scanned documents will then proceed directly from the Quick Menu to the desired application. The only requirement is that the third-party software must support PDF or JPG formats. The new ScanSnap iX500 supports Scan-to-Cloud for numerous popular providers such as Evernote, Dropbox, Google Docs, Salesforce and SugarSync.

ScanSnap iX500 innovations

The ScanSnap iX500 features numerous innovations:

  • It comes equipped with a fast GI processor providing automated in-scanner image optimisation that delivers clear, high-quality images at high scanning speed of 25 A4 pages per minute, capturing both sides simultaneously (duplex). A brand new paper handling mechanism offering fast and trouble free handling of a wide range of document types.
  • It supports direct Wi-Fi connection to mobile devices.
  • The CardMinder business card software for PC or Mac generates contact data directly for address books or CRM systems.
  • The scanner automatically recognises business cards and recommends the appropriate application in the Quick Menu.
  • The Quick Menu can be configured to display all or just the most commonly used applications.

“The ScanSnap iX500 marks the most significant milestone yet in the evolution of our ScanSnap series”, notes Mike Nelson, General Manager Sales and Marketing EMEA for PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. “As part of our Scan-to-Mobile strategy, we want to help users integrate paper-based information into digital processes as easily and efficiently as possible. With the ScanSnap iX500, we have taken a giant step in that direction."

“With the introduction of our new paper handling mechanism and the fast GI processor we have revolutionised our top-of-the line ScanSnap hardware”, comments Sofie Dheedene, ScanSnap Product Manager for EMEA at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. “No matter what the mobile device is, the new processor ensures that the result is a high-quality scan that can be integrated seamlessly into the digital workflow.”
