FLASHWAVE Series

Fujitsu's FLASHWAVE products supports WDM Terminal (FLASHWAVE TERM) system and In-Line Optical Amplifier (FLASHWAVE AMP) system. An additional transponder (FLASHWAVE TRPN) system, is available for interconnection of non WDM traffic interfaces to the FLASHWAVE TERM system.

Flexibility and Upgradability

The FLASHWAVE TERM/AMP system has been developed as a common WDM platform providing seamless upgrade from small capacity at day one to final capacity of 320Gb/s.

Hardware cost are minimized by appropriate selection of the required units for the appropriate number of wavelengths.

In service channel addition is an essential feature to allow seamless capacity upgrade to the projected maximum wavelength of 8?, 16? and 32? owing to the continuous power monitor and automatic feedback control features.

Along with the network growth and technology migration, the optical network is expected to be upgraded from simple Point-to-Point configuration to 1.76 Terabit capacity OADM system (pre-planned initially and re-configurable in future) and OXC system with wavelength conversion.

Optical Layer Protection

The FLASHWAVE provides 1+1 optical Layer protection on a per optical channel (OCh) basis. This protections facility, the "Lighguard" is provided by FLASHWAVE transponder shelf. The "Lightguard" facility is supported by a slide-in-unit installed on each end of the Photonic Network.

Tunable Lasers

The Tunable laser modules are used on a transponder units, to reduce the spare units. Currently 4? tunable lasers are available and, in future releases, it is planned to go up to 44 wavelength.
