ICAD/MX

ICAD/MX (Integrated Computer Aided Design ) is a mid-range product offering both solid modeling and production and detail drawings as a single fully integrated product.

ICAD/MX provides cost effective migration for mainframe CADAM engineers moving from 2D drafting to 3D modeling. ICAD/MX supports CADAM drawings on a network of systems replacing CADAM.

ICAD/MX interoperability functions allow CADAM and other CAD geometry to be transferred to ICAD/MX - Solid Modeling and Unigraphics for definition of 3D solids.

ICADMX 3D Base Functionality

  • Common User Interface for 2D & 3D
ICAD/MX 3D is a 2D like operation for 3D modeling which can use CADAM and any legacy drawings to construct a 3D model
  • Associativity
Associativity is maintained between 3D model and 2D drawing so that 3D model can be edited easily using 2D drawing.
Engineering Design changes is done productively and cost effective.
  • View Projections
Projection of general, auxiliary, isometric and section views can be made from 3D model to 2D drawings in less time.
  • Analysis
Interference check and the gap check can be analyzed within the assemblies and can be visualized in both 3D model and 2D drawing.
  • Editing Assemblies
Parts and sub assemblies can be easily moved or rotated in the 2D drawing by means of auto projection.
  • Parasolid Pipeline Solution
The concept is known as Parasolid Pipeline and the means of exchange is the Parasolid solid model stored in the open XT file format.Multiple data conversions using IGES and STEP can result in loss of geometry and other inaccuracies. Exchange of Parasolid XT files is 100% reliable.

Basically the Microcadam drawings or other 2D drawings formats can be transferred to ICAD/MX and from there the solid model built or developed can be transferred directly as solids to other higher end CAD/CAM/CAE software without any data loss.

ICADMX 2D Base Functionality

  • Views
Creation of basic views, Auxiliary views, Isometric views and Wireframes can be created interactively. Basic and Isometric views can be projected with the help of other created views. Wireframes can also be projected and transferred to 3D module.
  • Details and Layers
Details can contain geometry, text, dimensions, symbols, other details, a view or a single view drawing which can be used in current drawing or import & export to other drawings.
Layers can be created with different colors useful for editing drawing.
  • Dimensions
Dimensions can be created in ANSI and JIS standards. Different kinds of dimension utility are available starting from line, curve and splines.
Parametric dimensioning is also available for easy editing.
  • Notes
This command allows you to position and enter single or multiple lines or new text, or edit and move existing text.
Text Editor table is also available to frame text and to create different Tolerance format.
  • Symbols
Primary function of this is to use and edit predrawn symbols. Leader lines, balloons, deltas and user defined symbols can be specified from symbol tables or system panels
  • Translators
The IMPORT/EXPORT option provides bi-directional transfer of mainframe CAD data, transfer of 2D data to 3D CAD systems and from 3D data to 2D CAD systems transparently.

The format includes NURESTOR, DMNDOS, IGES, DXF and CADAM mainframe.

Even images can be transferred using PCX, TIFF, BM, BMP and XWD formats.
