Fujitsu Malaysia Launches Primergy NX650 NAS Blade for SMEs

Compact Windows-based “data centre in a box” storage solution now available

Kuala Lumpur, February 20, 2009

Leading IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Malaysia today announced the Primergy NX650 network attached storage (NAS) blade unit for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.

Engineered to offer data centre functionality within a compact box, the small-footprint NX650 offers SMEs an affordable, embedded shared storage solution in a Windows-based blade environment.

The entry-level configuration for the NAS blade unit comprises:

Primergy NX650
  • the NX650 server blade
Based on a quad-core Primergy BX620 S4 blade server running Windows Storage Server 2003 R2, the server module offers 4GB of main memory, two 36GB hot-pluggable hard disk drives (HDDs) and other features. The server sub-system can also be expanded with an additional processor and an extra 8GB of main memory.
  • the NX650 storage blade
The storage module provides three 146GB hot-pluggable HDDs and optional scalability to five drives, for a maximum storage capacity of 730GB. The storage sub-system can also be expanded by adding another storage blade, thus increasing the maximum capacity to 1.4TB.
Other features include:
  • background shadow copy creation
  • fast data backup and recovery
  • integrated support for storage centralisation
  • simple web-based console management

The NAS blade unit can also be pre-installed with various configurations for it to integrate into an existing system with plug-and-play functionality.

Creating a data centre in a box allows Fujitsu to meet customer needs for appropriate local storage within the blade chassis, without the extra complexity of implementing a storage area network. The NX650, which slots in to a blade chassis, enhances the feature richness of our robust Primergy BX600 blade servers and makes them ideal for SMEs,” said Mr. Adrian Loh, Senior Manager, Enterprise Systems Technology, Fujitsu Malaysia.

The Primergy NX650 NAS blade unit is available for the ASEAN (including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) markets with immediate effect. Visit http://my.fujitsu.com or call 03-8318 3700 for more details.
