Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M Receives iF product design award 2009

London, 18. March 2009 — Fujitsu's stylish ScanSnap S300M document scanner has been honoured with the esteemed 'iF product design award 2009'. The highly portable imaging device is one of the smallest A4 colour duplex ADF scanners available, allowing Mac® users to digitize paper documents at speeds of eight colour pages per minute. The distinguished prize is a label for outstanding design and shows that visions of cross cultural consumer and environmental responsibility have been implemented in the product. Out of 2,808 selected entries from 39 countries, the judging panel of 28 international design experts decorated 802 products with the iF product design award 2009 – including Fujitsu's ScanSnap S300M, designed by the Fujitsu company PFU Technoconsul Limited. The newly awarded Fujitsu scanner is on display at the iF Forum of the Deutsche Messe convention centre in Hannover, Germany until August 2009.
Evaluation criteria
The iF product design award was introduced in 1953 and is annually conferred by the iF International Design Forum. Along with
the red dot design award, it is the most important international product design prize. The iF panel judges based their evaluation
criteria on design quality, workmanship, choice of material, degree of innovation, environmental compatibility, functionality,
ergonomics, visualization of use, safety, brand value and branding.
Fast One-Touch Scanning

Small, functional, mobile and stylish
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M colour duplex scanner for the Mac® platform comes with an automatic document feeder (ADF)
and is bundled with unique imaging functions and powerful scanning software. This ScanSnap model is an ideal productivity
tool for mobile use on the road and desktop operations in small and home offices. The ScanSnap S300M captures documents from
business card size to A4 formats and offers the fastest "one-touch" conversion of paper documents into PDF files in its
mobile performance class.
Its footprint measures only 284mm x 95mm x 77mm (WxDxH), which is smaller than an A4 notebook computer; its weight just 1.4 kg. Operating this scanning solution is easy. To begin digitising paper assets, the user simply loads a stack of up to 10 documents into the ADF and presses the "SCAN" button. PDF files are produced at speeds of up to 8 pages (A4) per minute in simplex- or 16 pages per minute in duplex mode in both black/white and colour. Scanning in duplex mode, both sides of a document are captured simultaneously in one single pass. The scanning resolutions of the S300M range from 150 dpi to 1,200 dpi.
