Fujitsu Enables Digital Transformation for SMEs with PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box

Fujitsu EMEIA

Luxembourg, June 15, 2016 With its updated PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box solution, Fujitsu opens the door to digital transformation for small to midsize firms, and large enterprises operating remote branch offices, by providing faster and more cost-effective ready-to-run IT systems.

Fujitsu’s new ‘all-in-one’ hyperconverged system enables small and midsize organizations to more easily adopt ‘Fast IT’ solutions even when on-site IT support is rare, or non-existent. Simple to set-up and configure, the entry-level PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box configuration can power up to 60 virtual desktops – and is ideally suited to business-critical deployments such as hosting a web shop or running an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) database.

PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box has been designed as an easy to use, secure and integrated computing solution that can cope with all critical business software and data storage requirements. Set-up is simple, cost-effective and designed for customers who do not have IT support on-hand around the clock. New systems are usually online in less than an hour, thanks to factory pre-configuration and software pre-installation, plus a wizard-driven, step-by-step guided process that lets customers select variables such as storage capacities and allocate processing, storage and network resources according to their needs.

Inside the box1, Fujitsu has integrated two physical servers, data storage and networking devices. An optional expansion doubles the number of servers and gives the PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box enough power to host up to 200 virtual desktops. Virtualization means more dependable IT through improved system uptime, and ample data backup capacity helps further increase customer confidence in their IT system.

Pricing and availability

PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box from Fujitsu is available directly from Fujitsu and via distribution partners. Prices vary by region, and configuration.

Notes to editors

1 PRIMEFLEX Cluster-in-a-box is a compact, 2U size enclosure that fits into a standard data center rack. The basic configuration is two physical FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY CX400 units – expandable to four servers – equipped with the most-recent generation Intel Xeon E5 v4 family processors, running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 software. Overall capacity can be increased to 260TB via the addition of a FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS JX storage system with a total of 78 disks.
