  • Fujitsu to take over responsibilities for in-store IT across Apoteksgruppen’s 173 pharmacies in Sweden
  • Agreement runs until 2021 with an option for a further five year extension
Stockholm/Luxemburg, April 21, 2016 Fujitsu has signed a Retail-as-a-Service IT agreement that makes the latest retail technology available to 173 pharmacies across Sweden in the Apoteksgruppen i Sverige AB chain.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, with the option for a further five year extension, Fujitsu takes full responsibility for managing in-store IT across the pharmacy’s network. The leading ICT company will provide a complete Retail-as-a-Service solution with servers, uninterruptible power supplies, registers and related peripherals – as well as field technicians to provide on-site support.

Ola Ebenhart, Head of IT at the owner-operated Apoteksgruppen i Sverige AB, says: “The agreement with Fujitsu is really positive and we’re looking forward to a long-lasting and rewarding cooperation, in which we’ll be able to offer our pharmacies a complete delivery of IT services beginning as soon as August this year.”

In the long term, Fujitsu is taking an active role in supporting and contributing to Apoteksgruppen’s efforts to reduce the number of its IT-infrastructure providers and migrating its in-store IT-solutions to a services-based platform. Fujitsu already operates similar Retail-as-a-Service agreements for the Swedish grocery chain owner Axfood and the Norwegian wholesaler and retail franchiser Reitangruppen.

Love Ekstrand, Director of Sales Private Sector at Fujitsu in Sweden, says: “The demand for Retail-as-a-Service solutions is increasing, with customers looking for a one-stop delivery service for all their IT needs, at a fixed cost without any unpleasant surprises. This agreement serves as verification that we’re highly competitive when it comes to delivering technically advanced solutions to the retail sector. In-store IT is an important area where it’s apparent how the rapid advancements in technology are creating new opportunities and very real gains for organizations. We’re looking forward to working together with Apoteksgruppen to create an even better experience for their customers.”.
