News facts
Fujitsu today announces the launch of the latest ETERNUS SF management software for Fujitsu ETERNUS DX disk storage systems, providing enterprise-class Automated Storage Tiering (AST). With ETERNUS SF V15, this enterprise-class storage efficiency technology is provided consistently across the complete ETERNUS DX family – now including entry-level and mid-range systems – and is not reliant on system capacity.
Business Benefits
AST enables businesses of all sizes to better manage ever-increasing amounts of data and to use storage resources more efficiently. It does so by automatically placing data in different storage tiers (disk types) based on the specifications set by the administrator, such as storage performance, capacity requirements as well as cost of storage. AST also lowers operational effort – and therefore costs – while boosting performance, for example in applications like databases, Exchange or VMware. It also considerably reduces manual effort in storage operation and administration.
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) can also now benefit from enterprise-class functionality in entry-level systems, thanks to the availability of AST right across the Fujitsu ETERNUS DX family . Large enterprises with branch offices can also use right-fit entry-level systems with the same AST benefits. Features such as AST and Thin Provisioning as well as the consistent design and unified look and feel of the ETERNUS SF management software and the graphical user interface of the ETERNUS DX family enable customers to manage their data centers more efficiently, lowering their overall costs, reducing effort and the associated expenditure to train IT administrators while at the same time enjoying higher performance. Due to the unified architecture within the ETERNUS DX family customers can also easily upgrade to a higher system class simply by exchanging the controller.
