News facts:

  • New homogeneous product family fits a variety of different workplace environments
  • Stylish appearance, packed with future-embracing technologies
  • New levels of advanced ergonomics, with touch fully integrated into the user experience
Fujitsu today announces a new family of desktop products, the Fujitsu X Line. Spanning PCs, thin clients and displays, the X Line introduces a uniform, stylish appearance and is packed with innovative, future-embracing technologies that help put desktop computing at the forefront, as companies reshape the workplace. The X Line is launched at Fujitsu Forum 2012, Europe’s biggest single-vendor IT event, taking place in Munich, Germany.

The industry’s first homogenous desktop computing lineup to help accelerate change, the Fujitsu X Line puts an emphasis on “must have” office computing requirements of tomorrow, such as interactive touch-screens, support for intuitive collaboration and a seamless user experience across multiple platforms and devices.

An all-in-one design for three distinct product lines, with computing units integrated into the stand, the Fujitsu X Line family delivers an appealing interface that adapts to allow users to work in the way they want. Fujitsu X Line devices include a flagship ESPRIMO PC model launched with Microsoft Windows 8 supporting all its features and deeply integrate these into the user experience.

Standard features of the Fujitsu X Line ESPRIMO PC and FUTRO thin client include a height-adjustable frameless 23-inch (58.4cm) full HD touchscreen display. Including an optional super-slim screen that is just 12mm thick, the display on the X Line PC and thin client swivels and twists to any angle – including folding fully flat for sharing a presentation during a meeting. An adaptive control takes account of ambient light levels and keeps screen brightness at optimum levels. The ultrasound sensor in the ESPRIMO X desktop PC and FUTRO X thin client detects when a user leaves their desk, then switches into low-energy or sleep mode, and can also apply security to stop unauthorized access. Unlocking the ESPRIMO X is as easy as looking at the screen, thanks to integrated facial recognition. As companies expect from Fujitsu, security features such as Trusted Platform Module and SmartCard reader, plus manageability like Fujitsu DeskView are watchwords across the X Line range of PCs and thin clients.

For virtual or server-based computing, the ultra-efficient FUTRO X Line thin client model draws its power over a single Ethernet cable – ensuring not only minimal power consumption but also a clutter-free desktop. The FUTRO X Line is a no-compromise thin client, providing exactly the same immersive user experience as a PC, including touch-screen capabilities, and is the gateway to delay-free access to rich applications running on back-end computing power. Customers running thin client environments can choose either the eLux® RL or Windows® Embedded Standard operating system, supported by best-in-class Scout Enterprise management software.

The third product in the X Line trilogy is the new Fujitsu Display X, which is crisper, clearer and more energy-efficient than ever, and helps extend the X Line concept to legacy desktop PCs, while also ensuring a homogeneous look and feel for future-oriented office environments. Fujitsu’s Display X also supports the mirroring of smartphone displays, via the MHL interface, which allows smartphones to be used in combination with a 23-inch display, while simultaneously charging the phone’s battery via the MHL cable.

Toni Koberling, Head of Design at Fujitsu Technology Solutions
“Our goal was to create a family of desktop computing devices that have an extremely dynamic, high class appearance, thanks to design features like the frameless screen, and the use of high-quality materials including brushed aluminum. We also focused on making the X Line a device that you not only use, but interact with. That’s why advanced ergonomics are so important tofr the design concept, for example in making it possible to adjust the display with just the tip of a finger.”

Dieter Heiss, Vice President of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions
“To keep up with accelerating changes in the workplace, the Fujitsu X Line concept helps the humble PC to take a major step forward – and to guarantee its future position in a dynamic working environment. The X Line has a distinctive family design and top line features such as full support for desktop virtualization, outstanding viewing performance and integration for smartphones: Features such as touch-screens for the PC and thin client models, plus state-of-the-art presence sensors mean that , the X Line delivers a singular, sleek design and next-generation innovation to create an even more immersive and intuitive user experience.”
