Fujitsu x10sure 3.1 Extends Virtualization Capabilities to Offer Great Value and Flexibility

Fujitsu’s IT consolidation software gives enterprises a high-availability, lower cost option to clustering

Munich, February 01, 2010

Fujitsu today extends the virtualization and automation capabilities of its innovatively-simple and cost-effective IT consolidation platform x10sure. In version 3.1, x10sure reaches new levels of high availability and downtime reduction protection, at significantly lower costs than clustering. Designed further to enable small- to medium-sized enterprises to improve system availability while significantly reducing IT operational costs in running Windows and Linux applications on x86/x64, x10sure 3.1 is now available in more than 20 countries in Central Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India (CEMEA&I).

Fujitsu’s x10sure software simply and cost-effectively provides enhanced server virtualization capabilities to improve system availability, while protecting against the risks of unplanned downtime, in doing so saving as much as an additional 50 per cent in operational costs. A unique Fujitsu technical innovation, x10sure is based on the “n plus one” principle. Should an application server fail, then the spare is automatically booted and all services are restored within minutes – enabling the protection of investments in existing technology, while easily integrating and achieving the added value of new investments.

As virtualization moves into the mainstream, more enterprises are taking advantage of the increased business velocity through transforming their IT into dynamic infrastructures that adjust to varying workload demands. Through server virtualization, enterprises benefit from price-performance gains and enjoy added application flexibility. However, virtualization often increases the cost and complexity of system administration and management.

Rolf Strotmann, Vice President Enterprise Servers and Software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “The beauty of x10sure is its unmatched simplicity, increasing overall quality of service of the IT infrastructure at an affordable price, to allow enterprises to introduce high-availability to all servers, instead of being forced to select which servers are mission-critical and which are not. With version 3.1, the x10sure concept, which is modularized and flexible to various scenarios, has now come of age. As such, you will see x10sure continue to evolve to satisfy more customer needs, address new markets, and indeed lower the barriers to entry for virtualization projects, storage consolidation, and dynamic IT.”

Already recognized for its ability to standardize and streamline IT operations and automatically ensure business continuity, version 3 of x10sure introduces hypervisor-level support for virtual machines and adds even higher levels of system protection against the financial and commercial risks of unplanned downtime. Virtual Machine monitoring and recovery from failures ensures minimized service interruptions. The extended platform support results in better utilization of new platforms, easily integrating with market-leading virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. The new edition also allows the consolidation of physical and virtual server environments into dynamic infrastructures, delivering much-needed peace-of-mind through providing essential system failover protection.

Customers also sing the praises of x10sure, and the impact that improved levels of IT performance are having on their business, with German soccer Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt noting that x10sure from Fujitsu has delivered more efficient infrastructure operation as well as savings that represent ecological benefits. Says Manuel Philipp, IT Manager at Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG : “ The homogeneous server landscape combines with the high-performance storage infrastructure to have a very positive effect on performance and security and at the same time facilitates system management.”

x10sure 3.1 is available immediately from Fujitsu, competitive list prices starting from €1,400 plus tax, maintenance and service.
