Fujitsu Introduces Ready-to-Run PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition for Small Businesses

Advanced ‘headless’ technology delivers user friendly entry level server with dramatically reduced space and administration needs

Munich, October 05, 2010

Fujitsu today announces the launch of the PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition, a user-friendly, low-cost x86 server especially tailored for small businesses. The innovative PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition uses ‘headless’ technology to save space, while reducing costs and administration effort. Headless technology means the server can be accessed without its own monitor, mouse or keyboard. Fujitsu’s ‘Just power-up ‘n’ run’ functionality automatically installs server software, and administration is simply carried out from any PC on the network. Combined with self-healing functionality and comprehensive support tools, the PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition is the ideal solution for small businesses without in-house IT support, and looking for an easy-to-use entry level server.

Many small businesses require the power and performance of a server but are constrained by budget, space and a lack of specialist administration skills. Fujitsu has therefore adapted its successful PRIMERGY TX100 S2 server, tailoring its functions to the particular needs of this group.

The PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition ’s headless configuration delivers major business benefits as it not only lowers initial purchase costs, but also reduces ongoing energy consumption, producing further savings on running costs and benefiting the environment. As it does not need room for a monitor or keyboard it shrinks the space required for a server.

Ease of use and reduced administration are the central benefits of the PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition . Pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation, the ‘Just power-up ‘n’ run’ functionality means it automatically installs the operating system with default settings when first switched on. All the user needs to do is plug in, remove the End User License Agreement sticker and switch on. Advanced self-healing functions ensure the server automatically corrects any errors found in the boot phase, without the need for user involvement.

The PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition delivers continued peace of mind as it comes complete with integral warning lights and simple to use management and recovery tools. In case of errors, the Fujitsu Headless Maintenance and Recovery Manager guides users through the problem-solving process, automatically collecting all relevant error data through the PrimeCollect tool. If necessary, this can then be sent direct to external support partners for fast analysis and diagnosis.

Designed to provide 24x7 file and print services, or to act as a intranet/web server, the PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition delivers high performance through a combination of Intel’s Xeon X3430 processor, two 1 terabyte hard disks, four gigabytes of DDR3 main memory and an integral DVD drive. It runs Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation, a stable, entry-level server platform that features the familiar Windows GUI to make day-to-day administration straightforward and user-friendly.

Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President Datacenter Systems Product Division at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “For smaller businesses of up to 15 users looking for an easy-to-use entry-level server, the PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition provides significant server capabilities but without any unnecessary overheads in terms of space, cost or administration. The built-in ease-of-use demonstrates Fujitsu’s close understanding of customers’ challenges and our commitment to provide products and services that meet their specific needs and allow them to grow and thrive through better technology.”

Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY TX100 S2 Core Edition is now available globally. Availability may vary between regions.
