Fujitsu Laboratories' Eight Emerging Technologies for Leading the World
For promoting global Digital Co-creation with our customers, Fujitsu Laboratories is pushing forward with research and development by focusing on the following eight emerging technologies that will lead the world.
In the field of "Innovative Computing for Solving Social Issues," we are developing a technology to solve intractable issues such as combinatorial optimization problems which were impossible with the conventional computing power, by using our unique computer architecture inspired by quantum behavior. In the field of "Reliable AI that Develops the Society," we are making an effort to realize AI that can explain the reasons for its judgment, which is difficult for AI at present, by combining a new machine learning method and a knowledge base. In "Data Management System that Facilitates the Value Creation Cycle," we are trying to develop a technology to implement and manage a data-driven ICT system for utilizing the data across industries. In the field of "Information and Communication Management in the 5G Era for Connecting Cyberspace and Physical World," we are developing communication technologies for seamlessly connecting various systems concerning physical layer, on-premises, cloud, edge computing and IoT for providing the orchestrated services. In "System Engineering Supporting Digital Co-creation," we are conducting the development of technologies that can easily digitalize business by using APIs for publishing the software of each enterprise's existing IT systems to combine it with the services of other company's services. In "Digital Security Systems Protecting Society from Potential Threats," we are developing technologies to protect the whole part of connected services ranging from cyber security to authentication and authorization of people and things, privacy and data security, and blockchain. In "Sensecomputing for Human-Machine Collaboration through Human Emotion Understanding," we are tackling a challenge of realizing the next-generation computing technology to add new functions to ICT for understanding how humans think, see the things and feel, including the perception of human psychology such as human five senses, intuition, illusion, desire and empathy. In the field of "New Materials/Devices that Revolutionize the Existing Paradigm," exercising the data analysis technology of advanced computing and AI, etc., we are aiming to create innovative new materials and devices that can revolutionize the society, people's daily lives and business.
Focusing on these fields, we are pushing the development of a lot of cutting-edge technologies that will amaze the world.
In order to solve social problems which were difficult to be solved by conventional ICT, we are conducting R&D on a new algorithm and architecture specialized in a certain domain and problem.
We are promoting R&D on advanced AI technologies such as "Explainable AI," which can explain the reasons and bases for its inference results by using Deep Tensor and Knowledge Graph, as well as new machine learning, mathematical approach and natural language understanding.
We are engaged in R&D on data management technologies for providing an integrated co-creation environment to both service providers and users, for integration/utilization of various kinds of data and execution of safe/secure transactions.
In order to realize a cyber-physical system for digitalizing all things in the real world and connecting them with various applications, we are promoting R&D on "One Network," "Real world virtualization" and "Edge-computing."
We are developing technologies for composition-type application development, existing application utilization, and insight-driven development, by combining them into a technological domain called "API-Publish & Compose" that enables easy, rapid and secure system development and management via API.
We are conducting R&D on technologies in the fields of cyber security, privacy and data security such as anonymization, blockchain, authentication/authorization method for controlling ICT systems by accurately identifying people and things.
