Capital Alliance between Fujitsu Frontech and Takamisawa Cybernetics

September 26, 2005

- Pursuing joint development of next-generation coin recycle units (CRU) for financial institutions and the retail sector -

Fujitsu Frontech Limited (hereinafter, Fujitsu Frontech) and Takamisawa Cybernetics Company Ltd. (hereinafter Takamisawa Cybernetics) have come to an understanding with Fujitsu Frontech acquiring some shares in Takamisawa Cybernetics. As a result of the capital alliance, both companies are working together to develop next-generation CRU(1)s for financial institutions and the retail sector by providing competitive, high quality products.

Fujitsu Frontech currently outsources the development and production of CRUs, which are installed in machines such as automatic ticket vending machines for the totalizator market, to Takamisawa Cybernetics. In order to further strengthen this relationship, provide higher quality products, and improve market competitiveness, Fujitsu Frontech acquired 500,000 shares in Takamisawa Cybernetics on September 26 (5.52% of all shares, 367,500,000 yen).

Takamisawa Cybernetics developed the world's first multiple value ticket vending machine, and currently develops and sells custom automatic ticket vending machines and various terminals for the railway ticket vending machine market and for financial institutions. In addition to ATMs for financial institutions, and POS and self-checkout systems for the retail sector, Fujitsu Frontech provides a broad variety of system products for public sporting venues (totalizator related equipment) and is expanding into the total solution business. This capital alliance enables both companies to compliment each other by utilizing our combined experience, knowledge and technological capabilities.

Furthermore, demand from financial institutions is forecast for terminals that are equipped with recycling cash collection and dispensing units, and demand from the retail sector is expected for recycling change units. In response to this, both companies are jointly developing products that combine the bill handling technology from Fujitsu Frontech with the coin handling technology from Takamisawa Cybernetics, which will make it possible to exploit opportunities in new business sectors.
