Fujitsu Leads Project Team to Deliver WiMAX VoIP Devices to Smile Communications to Serve Developing Countries

Tokyo, June 2, 2009 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited and Smile Telecoms Holdings Limited today announced the realization of the world’s first WiMAX Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phone and service for developing countries, enabled through the creation of an eco-system encompassing mobile carrier, handset, semiconductor and module partners. Fujitsu Microelectronics led technology partners in collaboration with Smile Communications Ltd., a subsidiary of Smile Telecoms Holdings, to produce a ground-breaking VoIP phone and service which are set to revolutionize communications in developing markets by bringing affordable communications to underserved customers in Africa. This low-cost voice service is enabled through voice transmission over Internet Protocol (IP).

Fujitsu Launches Industry's First Embedded FRAM-LSI that Counteracts Electromagnetic Interference

Tokyo, May 22, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) today announced the launch of the MB88R157, an addition to its existing product line of spread-spectrum clock generators (SSCG), which provide countermeasures against electromagnetic interference (EMI) on high-frequency clock signals. The new LSI also includes embedded FRAM, an industry first, which features fast rewriting speed and can vary its frequency output over a range of 1 MHz to 134 MHz while mounted on a circuit board. In addition, Fujitsu Microelectronic’s circuit design technology reduces the product power consumption in continuous operation by up to 40% in comparison to similar products from other companies. As it is easy to rewrite parameters in this new LSI, it is appropriate for a wide range of applications including multi-functional printers, PCs, and mobile phones, as well as for televisions, DVD players, and game consoles.

Fujitsu and Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry to Establish Joint Venture for WiMAX Application Platforms

Tokyo, December 4, 2007 – Fujitsu Limited and the Institute for Information Industry (III) of Taiwan, a non-governmental organization jointly sponsored by the Taiwan government and prominent private enterprises, today announced their agreement to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU), to establish a new company in Taiwan that will develop application platforms and provide engineering support based on WiMAX technology from Fujitsu and III. Through the joint venture, scheduled to be established in March 2008, it is anticipated that Fujitsu and III will significantly contribute to the development of the WiMAX industry in Taiwan.

Fujitsu Ships the Industry’s First Commercially Available 5.8GHz WiMAX System-on-Chip for Base Stations and Subscriber Units

Singapore, April 18, 2007 – - Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) today announced that Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) is now shipping its 5.8GHz WiMAX baseband system-on-chip (SoC) to ODM partners and customers worldwide, including solutions provider Texas Instruments, WiMAX systems provider ORZA Networks and WiMAX customer premises maker Sun Create Electronics Co., Ltd.
