Fujitsu Consulting and FileNet Deliver Claims Processing Solution for Property and Casualty Insurance

New offering designed to help customers expedite claims processing, reduce operating costs, and identify fraudulent activity

Edison, NJ and Costa Mesa, CA, September 13, 2004 — Fujitsu Consulting today announced the availability of the Fujitsu Advanced Claims Processing Utility, the result of a development partnership with FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ: FILE), a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions.

Bridging Enterprise Content Management with Business Process Management, the utility is designed to expedite Property and Casualty (P&C) claims processing, reduce claims payout and administrative costs, and improve customer service and retention.

Designed to meet the specific needs of mid-sized P&C carriers, the Fujitsu offering will work with existing claims systems, or as a standalone solution. Leveraging FileNet's P8 architecture to enable greater process control and consistency, it helps companies streamline their claims operations, providing them with a new way of managing their most demanding content challenges as well as their most complex business processes.

"Speeding up the processing of Property and Casualty claims can have a major impact on customer satisfaction and ultimately, customer retention," said Martyn Christian, chief marketing officer for FileNet. "Insurers are looking for more effective ways to handle large volumes of documentation in order to evaluate claims more quickly, easily, and efficiently. At the same time, these companies are looking to reduce the cost of these processes and expose fraudulent activity. Together, FileNet and Fujitsu Consulting can provide them with a cost-effective means to overcome these challenges."

The Advanced Claims Processing Utility combines FileNet software with Fujitsu Consulting implementation expertise to help insurers improve their operations. The Advanced Claims Processing Utility includes: a consistent series of proven business processes; workflows based on industry best practices; case management structures; built-in work distribution rules; capabilities for straight-through processing of simple claims, and capturing and distributing of all claims-related documentation as part of a claim case.

"Insurance companies, like many other industries, have been striving for better control over the vast amount of information and data that goes into claims processing," said Greg Forlenza, senior vice president, Fujitsu.

"With FileNet's P8 architecture as the foundation, the Fujitsu Consulting Advanced Claims Processing Utility provides that control, so insurers can instantly route an entire claim using established workflows for Straight-Through Processing, or to the appropriate person for processing. We believe it is a highly effective and intuitive way to streamline a process that has for too long been a challenge for insurers worldwide."
