Fujitsu document scanners to interface directly with Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server 2007
Fujitsu accelerates paper-based information to e-speed
London, 3. June 2009 — Fujitsu Europe Limited, a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced the integration of Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) with the entire line of Fujitsu document scanners using KnowledgeLake® Connect technology to enable the seamless scanning of paper documents directly into a MOSS document repository.
The strategic partnership between Fujitsu and KnowledgeLake® will now enable users of the SharePoint platform, including MOSS and WSS as well as Office Live, to gain even more benefit from their initial investment into the platform by providing an easy to use method to scan, capture, index and store document images within a Microsoft® SharePoint Server document repository. Utilising the familiar MOSS interface to ensure greater user acceptance and to minimise the need for additional training, an organisation can now start to easily integrate paper documents into the MOSS Enterprise Content Management (ECM) module using the Fujitsu scanner range which now all come with the KnowledgeLake® Connect technology already bundled in the box.
Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a reliable, scalable, easy-to-deploy and manage platform for developing customised business solutions, including applications in collaboration, portal, search, ECM and business intelligence. With the SharePoint platform, companies can more easily unite disconnected islands of data, integrate technology with business processes and create a more efficient and productive work environment for both groups and individuals.

"Using the ECM system within Microsoft SharePoint Server to manage these documents can provide many commercial benefits, but it has always been a multi-step process to integrate these images into MOSS, usually involving starting up new software applications. Now, by including KnowledgeLake Connect in the box and integrating it with our scanners, Fujitsu has greatly simplified the process, allowing a user to request to scan an image directly from within MOSS and then, using any Fujitsu fi-series scanner, to have that scanned image delivered directly to the document repository where it can be indexed, stored and available for retrieval, all without the user having to leaving the line-of-business application they were in."
