    In 2000 a world leading supplier of components, systems and services to the energy, transmission & distribution, transport and marine markets amalgamated all of its IT resources into six National Service Centres to act as internal service providers for its operations throughout the world.     Metso chose Fujitsu to provide a range of outsourced IT infrastructure services, including its Desktop Managed Service, to support the needs of 8,000 workstation users across its 60 sites in Finland. Using Fujitsu’s managed service operating model, called Patja in Finland, the five-year contract is an extension to a long-standing IT collaboration between the companies, which is known as the “4114 service” in Metso.

  • Case study, TNT Express. Document management system

    TNT Express, the world’s leading business-to-business express carrier needed a document management system and were keen that as a business critical system, it would be held in-house. TNT worked in partnership with Fujitsu to develop a document management solution (DMS) which has dramatically shortened customs clearance processes, and will save an estimated £1.2m per year of paper handling and storage costs.

    The collection of motor tax and the management of driving licenses is a major business for the Department of Transport. In motor tax alone, over €880 million was collected in 2006 from over 2.3 million taxed vehicles. This involved some 4.75 million transactions.     In order to meet the NHS 24 and 48 hour access targets, Waterside realised that it needed to transform its working practices.   • Forfás

    Forfás’ Business Intelligence System (BIS) Environment comprises of a number of Oracle based components. Forfás is self sufficient in the day-to-day management of this critical application. However, there are times when Forfás requires the flexibility to draw support from additional, experienced Oracle resources. In seeking a solution to this problem Forfás decided that Fujitsu had the capacity to support Forfás in terms of meeting both their current and future business needs.

    Prior to 1999 the desktop and server environment of Fujitsu (then ICL) was managed by a number of different vendor products with disparate solutions for security, server management, software delivery and inventory management. By standardising on CA Unicenter and eTrust Antivirus Fujitsu has achieved cost savings of up to £2.8 million over 3 years.
