Fujitsu Unveils fi-6140 and fi-6240 Colour A4 Scanners for Indonesia

Jakarta, December 28, 2007 — Leading Information Technology and Communications solutions provider PT. Fujitsu Indonesia today unveiled the fi-6140 and fi-6240 colour A4 scanners for Indonesia market.

Engineered to be the fastest and most compact products in their class, the fi-6140 and fi-6240 are the first business scanners to incorporate advanced functions - hitherto found only in high-end models from Fujitsu Asia - such as:

  • paper protection, which automatically halts the scanning process when a paper jam is imminent
  • intelligent multifeed, which eliminates the possibility of false multifeed alerts
  • automatic colour recognition, size recognition and deskew, which improve scanning efficiency

These features allow the scanners to digitise documents of varying weights and sizes – such as A4-sized papers, photographs and business cards – in a single batch, for enhanced productivity.

The fi-6140 and fi-6240 are designed to digitise cards, paper, photographs, transparencies and other items with sizes ranging from A8 (53mm x 74mm) to A4 (210mm x 297mm). Each scanner incorporates an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) that holds a maximum of 50 sheets of paper with different sizes. Additionally, the fi-6240 includes a built-in flatbed for digitising thin or bound documents that cannot be fed through its ADF.

Both scanners also support barcode and patchwork reading, thus allowing them to simultaneously scan and separate different scan jobs for time savings.

The fi-6140 and fi-6240 scan colour, grayscale or monochrome documents at input resolutions of 300 dots per inch (dpi) or 200dpi. At 300dpi, A4-sized documents in portrait orientation can undergo simplex (one-sided) or duplex (two-sided) scanning at 40 pages per minute (ppm) or 80 images per minute (ipm) respectively. At 200dpi, portrait-oriented A4 colour documents are scanned at 40ppm or 80ipm while their grayscale and monochrome counterparts are digitised at 60ppm or 120ipm.

The output resolution can be adjusted in 1dpi increments from 50dpi to 600dpi, for precise control over the quality and size of resultant image files. Users can choose to store output files in Portable Document Format (PDF), Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format, for increased flexibility.

Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 operating systems, the fi-6140 and fi-6240 offer the Universal Serial Bus (USB) or Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) connectivity options.

The new Fujitsu fi-6140 and fi-6240 colour A4 scanners are priced at US$ 1,630 and US$ 2,260 respectively, and are available for Indonesia market with immediate effect.
