Fujitsu Launches SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5220 Solaris™ 10 Rackmount Servers for Indonesia
First UltraSPARC T2-based systems engineered with small footprints and built-in virtualisation capabilities for increased efficiency and reduced cost
Jakarta, October 25, 2007 — Leading Information Technology and Communications solutions provider PT. Fujitsu Indonesia today announced the SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5220 Solaris 10™ rackmount servers for the Indonesia markets. The T5120 and T5220 are the first servers based on the new UltraSPARC T2 processor. With four or eight cores, and eight processing threads per core, the servers have twice as many threads and eight times the floating point capabilities compared to older SPARC Enterprise servers.
The T5120 and T5220 also incorporate open source, no-cost virtualisation technologies such as Solaris™ Containers and Logical Domains, for customers to achieve high levels of system utilisation. With up to 64 isolated domains per socket, the T5120 and T5220 offer greater virtualisation capabilities than any other server in their class. End-users can deploy and consolidate many applications on a single SPARC Enterprise T5120 or T5220 server, to realise benefits such as reduced costs and increased flexibility.
Compared to competing UNIX or RISC-based servers, the T5120 and T5220 support four times the number of server connections with six times better performance per watt, at nearly one quarter of the cost and required physical space.
The new SPARC Enterprise servers have advanced reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features that allow the ability to turn off bad threads, detect multiple memory errors and reallocate bad memory blocks. Other RAS features include:
- integrated software tools for faster installation, increased agility and reduced overheads
- networking, connectivity and cryptography features for enhanced performance and increased reliability
- native on-chip support for 10 common cryptographic ciphers for higher throughput with minimal overheads per processor

With these design improvements, the T5120 and T5220 are engineered for increased scale, density and performance in various network-intensive services, examples of which include:
- Web or application servers
- online transaction processing
- technical workloads
"The innovative SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5220 servers, coupled with the Solaris 10™ operating system and Fujitsu's mission-critical systems business, provide a very fast, low-cost and secure solution for running customers' commercial and open source applications. The eco-friendly design of the T5120 and T5220 also lowers environmental costs, which is an added benefit to our customers," said Mr Motohiko Uno, Head, Regional Marketing Group, Fujitsu Asia.
