Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology and communications solutions, today announces that the latest generation of Fujitsu PRIMERGY mono and dual-socket servers have debuted as leaders in energy efficiency. New results from the independent Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) confirm the Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 S3p mono-socket server as the world record holder in energy efficiency for servers, achieving 6,109 overall ssj_ops/watt with the SPECpower_ssj2008 benchmark.1 The Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX920 S3 dual-socket server blade and Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX100 S7p rack server were also recognized for excellence in energy efficiency, and awarded 'best in its class'.2
News facts:
- The Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 S3p mono-socket Tower Server breaks the world record in energy efficiency and sets new mark for server energy efficiency by breaking the 6,000 overall ssj_ops/watt milestone with the SPECpower_ssj2008 benchmark*
- The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX100 S7p Rack Server and BX920 S3 dual-socket Blade Server rated ’best-in-class’ in energy efficiency
- Fujitsu announces upcoming availability in July of a new economical scale-up PRIMERGY quad-socket server
Business Benefits
The Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 S3p is an all-rounder that combines high performance and energy efficiency in a tower or desktop ultra-compact form factor. Ideal as a file, print, web, or terminal server, this 'plus' version includes a significant upgrade from the previous record-breaking TX120 S3 generation to deliver up to 30 per cent more performance per watt. It provides doubled bandwidth with the support of PCIe Gen3, improved performance with the help of Intel’s Xeon® processor E3-1200v2 product family (introduced today), plus high-speed memory of up to 1600 MHz while reducing the overall energy consumption.
Two further PRIMERGY servers underline Fujitsu’s commitment to environmental protection. The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX100 S7p rack server delivers the highest energy efficiency in its class as well as a rich set of optional expansions to meet individual demands, and also features Intel® Xeon® processors of the new E3-1200v2 product family. It helps companies to benefit from top-server performance, despite limited budgets and stringent environmental mandates.
The Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX920 S3 is a dual-socket blade server offering the ideal balance of performance and cost-efficiency with the latest Intel® Xeon® E5-2400 processors. By packing two of these processors, two hot-plug disk drives, up to 384 GB of DDR3 memory and a flexible 10 Gigabit Converged Network Adapter on board, the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX920 S3 is best suited for mainstream business applications and virtual client computing scenarios.
New Energy Efficient Quad-Socket Server Available in July
Fujitsu announces the upcoming availability of an energy efficient PRIMERGY quad-socket server based on the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 product family which provides economical scaling by leveraging the price/performance efficiency of dual-socket servers into the quad-socket performance class. This allows a performance boost for large workloads and higher headroom for consolidation and growth without needing to make changes to server or rack infrastructure. The result is an energy efficient, scalable and cost effective server with increased performance capability.
Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President, Product Development Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, said "These new benchmark results reaffirm Fujitsu's past and future role as a leader in server energy efficiency and performance. Mid to large-sized enterprises must be ever-mindful of meeting power limitations and keeping energy costs down. The PRIMERGY TX120 S3p alleviates this stress by providing increased information processing capabilities without putting additional demands on a company’s energy budget. Fujitsu's PRIMERGY TX120 S3p therefore provides high-quality performance with the guarantee of best energy efficiency in the worldwide market."
Raymon Firdauzi, Country Head, Infrastructure Services & Solutions, Fujitsu Indonesia, said, "Technological enhancements that focuses solely on the server's processing performance are becoming less relevant today if it compromises energy efficiency in order to achieve that level of performance. Therefore, Fujitsu made a breakthrough in development by not only increasing the processing performance, but also improving the energy efficient which in turn will affect organization's OPEX."
