Fujitsu Storage Platform Lead the Industry with Enhanced Performance, Capacity and Connectivity

New ETERNUS3000 storage systems combine midrange-level cost effectiveness with enterprise-level performance for 24x7 business operations

Hong Kong, August 11, 2004 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications (IT & T) solutions and services, today announced enhanced ETERNUS3000 storage systems that set new standards in performance, capability and connectivity. The new models embody Fujitsu's expertise acquired in the development of world-leading enterprise storage systems, yet are focused on meeting the requirements of today's data rich and nimble mid-sized enterprises.

The enhanced models include ETERNUS3000 model 700, model 500, model 300, model 100 and model 80. These products will be available in Hong Kong starting from August this year.

Highest Performance

The top-of-the-line ETERNUS3000 model 700 is now equipped with a high-speed 3.2GHz processor to further increase the system processing power. To maximize system performance, both the internal bus transfer rate and cache memory transfer rate of model 700 have also been doubled. The combined result of these new enhancements is the world's highest performance of 41, 200 IOPS* (Iput/Output per Second) in the industry standard SPC Benchmark-1™ test.

High Capacity

For the first time in the industry, the new ETERNUS3000 series also employ state-of-the-art 300GB Fibre Channel disk drive to boost storage capacity. With the new enhancement, ETERNUS3000 model 700 and model 500 can achieve a maximum storage capacity of 72TB; and the other enhanced models can support storage space from 2.2TB to 36TB to meet the requirements of various business organizations. The increased system capacity not only enables enterprises to handle the vast amount of data more efficiently, but better match their requirements of continuous data growth, storage consolidation, and increasing system integration in LAN environment.

Flexible Connectivity

The host interfaces of ETERNUS3000 model 700, model 500 and model 300 can now support iSCSI, in addition to the current Fiber Channel connection. This enhancement enables Fujitsu to support customers’ system requirements more effectively through the choice of FC-SAN or IP-SAN configurations.

High Reliability

All ETERNUS3000 new models continue to uphold Fujitsu's dedication to high reliability design, availability and high data security features. For example, the Data Guard feature guarantees data consistency with dedicated technology that ensures data read/write integrity. All components in ETERNUS3000 have redundant configuration to further protect data and achieve maximum system availability.
