Fujitsu Introduces the World's First USB-powered Magneto Optical Drive - FN640 SlimMO Pocket

Hong Kong, January 15, 2003 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited today announced the introduction of a new 3.5-inch 640MB magneto optical (MO) drive which is the first MO drive powered by its USB interface. The new FN640 SlimMO Pocket, which doesn't need any third party AC adapter, becomes ideal for customers who require higher portability for removable disk technology.

With a form factor of 23mm thick and weighing just 400g, FN640 SlimMO Pocket is the world's smallest and lightest MO drive. It is as slim and light as an external USB-powered floppy disk drive. The new MO drive is 47% smaller and 24% lighter than Fujitsu's previous stand-alone MO drive. This new feature adds value to customers since they allow higher portability to mobile professionals and it truly becomes an ideal solution anywhere.

The sleek new FN640 SlimMO Pocket operates at only 2.5W of power (read/write), which is 36% less than previous Fujitsu models. It is compatible to Windows ® 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP and Mac® OS 9.0.4 or later / Mac® OS X 10.0.01 or later operating systems.
