Hong Kong, August 23, 2001 — Fujitsu IT Professional Training Center and several Government departments co-organize the "IT Awareness Program" for children, old people, housewives and new immigrants. It aims at helping them to fit into the modern E-society. It is believed that more than 8000 people will be benefited from the program.
Computer technology has been developed rapidly. Not only does it improve our daily lives, but also streamlines our working processes. By sending emails or using videoconferencing, we can strengthen our connections with our relatives or friends overseas. More important, Internet is the most effective way to acquire information from all over the world. With no doubt, having better computer knowledge will enhance our career prospect. However, people somehow misunderstand that computers are for youngsters and that it requires much knowledg to operate computers. In order to change this paradigm and help different levels of people enjoy the use of computers, Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, together with several Government departments, co-organize a special computer training course from mid-July to late October for all sectors of general public who have little chance to use computers before.
The computer training course is divided into two parts, "IT Awareness Course" and "Thematic Course". The "IT Awareness Course" teaches basic computer knowledge, such as, the structure of a computer, its operation procedures and also the use of Microsoft Windows 98. The "Thematic Course" focuses on the use of Internet and processes to surf around web-sites in the net. In the course, we will also introduce the "Government Information Centre" (GIC), which is a Government information portal, to the participants. Visitors to the Centre can gain up-to-date Government information, such as, the latest government policies, speeches, press releases and so on. Fujitsu is responsible for the design of the training program and we will provide high-technology computer facilities, classrooms and professional instructors. In a way, participants can learn in a well-equipped and comfortable environment.
Fujitsu IT Professional Training Center has full experiences in providing different computer training courses to companies' staff members and civil servants for over 30 years. We are glad that we can contribute to helping the Government to promote IT education. We believe through this training course more people will be familiar with the use of computer and will have better IT knowledge. For further information about the training course, please call 2584 1700.
