Fujitsu Launches First PRIMERGY RX600 S4 Servers Upgraded to New Six-Core Intel Xeon Processors in Hong Kong

Groundbreaking rack servers using the new Xeon 7400 family of six-core processors offers unprecedented levels of performance and eco-effectiveness

Hong Kong, September 30, 2008 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the launch of the PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server using six-core Intel Xeon processor in Hong Kong. Fujitsu's PRIMERGY RX600 S4 is the first server available to Hong Kong customers using six-core Intel Xeon 7400 family of processors launched earlier this month. It is ideal for business enterprises that are looking for trailblazing performance and scalability in mission-critical systems.

Offering about 40 per cent of improvement in performance with a low active power consumption of only 1,150 Watt, the four-socket PRIMERGY RX600 S4 servers break new grounds as the world's best-in-class performing server engineered using the new Xeon 7400 family of six-core processors (code-named Dunnington).

In an official SPECint_rate 2006 benchmarking test held in August 2008, the PRIMERGY RX600 S4 servers set a new record test result of 277 for four-socket servers¹. The test score is 39 per cent higher than past results generated by other servers using earlier Xeon processors - underlining a significantly improved data throughput. Power consumption is also reduced by up to 10 per cent through the increased performance and enhanced performance per Watt from the six-core Xeon processors².

"The new PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server demonstrates Fujitsu's rapid response to the escalating demand of Hong Kong customers for performance and scalability, which has become more important than ever for large corporations and multinationals operating in a dynamic and challenging environment," said Mr James Pang, General Manager, Information System and Services Division, Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited. "The PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server is designed to offer snap-in upgradability for newer multi-core processors. This means businesses can start laying the foundations to unleash the performance enhancements brought by newer multi-core processors in the future."

Designed for customers in the upper mid-market as well as large enterprises with an ideal platform for consolidating multiple systems or workloads on to fewer, more powerful servers, Fujitsu's PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server can also easily operate resource-hungry ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems, and they are ideal for running large databases that require exceptionally high levels of system resources.

The PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server series is built using components including:

  • Four six-core Xeon 7400 processors
  • Up to 128GB of RAM available in a single chassis
  • Up to 1.2TB of hard disk space
  • PRIMERGY ServerView Suite and iRMC S2, SV Local Service Display for top manageability and serviceability
