Fujitsu Launches Ultra-compact ScanSnap S300M Colour Duplex Scanner for Macintosh in Hong Kong

Slim and Powerful One-Touch Scanning Solution for Macintosh Users and Gadget Lovers

Hong Kong, May 8, 2008 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the launch of the ScanSnap S300M colour duplex scanner for Macintosh to Hong Kong customers. The slim and groovy design and the powerful bundled applications make S300M an ideal scanning solution for Macintosh users and gadget lovers at both personal and professional levels.

The ScanSnap S300M enables loads of paper-based documents such as old photographs, school handouts and marked assignments, payment receipts, financial statements, design and presentation sketches and many others to be converted into searchable Portable Document Format (PDF) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) files in just one touch. This is because the S300M will automatically detect the varying sizes of paper spanning A4, A5, A6, B5 and B6, as well as Letter, Legal and business cards. The S300M can also scan double-sided documents in just one hit without flipping and automatically eliminate blank pages while de-skewing and showing the scanned images in their proper orientation.

Designed for pioneering experiencers and trend-setting mobile professionals using Macintosh computers, the ScanSnap S300M adopts the Macintosh white and similar stylish features, so that the Fujitsu scanner would become part of the users’ Macintosh collection both visually and functionally. Weighing only 1.4 kilograms and with an ultra-compact footprint of only half the size of an A4 sheet, the S300M scanner can fit in a briefcase or laptop carrier, which makes it an ideal partner for creative professionals on the road. The ENERGY STAR®-compliant S300M can also be powered from a USB connection (USB 2.0/USB 1.1) on any personal computer or laptop.

User-friendly and powerful software bundled with the S300M enables efficient and hassle-free management of document archives and contact databases. For example, CardirisTM for ScanSnap will enable users to easily organise their contact database and retrieve information when they are on the road. Business card information can be captured in six different languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch and be exported to other contact managers such as Address Book, Apple Works, Entourage, Now Contact and iSync.

Fujitsu Hong Kong also announced today that the ScanSnap S510M for Macintosh is now also available to Hong Kong users. This desktop model can capture A3-sized documents using the bundled paper carrier. With the ABBYY FineReader software, the ScanSnap S510M can automatically convert scanned data into searchable PDF files that support Mac OS "spotlight" and Adobe® Acrobat® searches [Amended]. Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional is also bundled with the S510M, enabling users to create and edit PDF documents without extra costs.
