Fujitsu Launches Ultra-compact ScanSnap S300 Colour Duplex Scanner in Hong Kong

Powerful and Easy-to-use S300 Mobile Scanning Solution Delivers Efficiency in Archive Management; Enables Instant Data-sharing for Hong Kong SMEs and Personal Users

Hong Kong, March 7, 2008 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the launch of the ScanSnap S300 colour duplex scanner to Hong Kong customers. Bundled with powerful applications, the ScanSnap scanner enables efficient archive management and instant data-sharing for various small and medium businesses in Hong Kong, as well as executives 'on-the-go'.

The ScanSnap S300 converts paper-based documents into searchable Portable Document Format (PDF) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) files easier than ever before. The S300 boasts a scanning speed of up to eight double-sided pages per minute (ppm) at 150 dpi and applies the 'One-Touch' concept, allowing it to digitalise A4, B5, A5, B5 and A6 documents, as well as business cards, on both sides at the same time. A batch of documents in different sizes can also be scanned in one go because the scanner can automatically detect the varying sizes of paper. The S300 can also automatically eliminate blank pages while de-skewing and showing images in their proper orientation.

With an ultra-compact footprint of only half the size of an A4 sheet and weighing only 1.4 kilograms, the ScanSnap S300 scanner is small enough to fit in a briefcase or laptop bag, making it a great solution for the mobile business professional. The S300 can also be powered from a USB connection (USB 2.0/USB 1.1) on any PC.

The powerful software bundled with the S300 enables efficient management of document archives and business contact databases. With CardMinder, for instance, users would be able to organise their business contact database, making it easy for users to recall contact information on the go. It captures business cards in eight different languages, including English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. The information can be exported to Microsoft Outlook and Excel formats.

In addition to the S300, Fujitsu Hong Kong also announced that the ScanSnap S510 is now available in Hong Kong as well. Similar in technology to the S300, the S510 can capture A3-sized printouts using the carrier sheet that is bundled with the product. With the ABBYY FineReader software, the S510 offers new Microsoft® Office linkage function. Editable images can be created by scanning directly to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard is also bundled with the S510 model, enabling users to create and edit PDF documents without extra costs.
