Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

Hong Kong, June 5, 2007 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the launch of the MHY2250BH series of mobile hard disk drives (HDDs) to Hong Kong consumers. The new Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) drive series attains up to 250GB in a slim 9.5mm-thin form factor, the industry's highest capacity point for a 2.5" 5,400RPM HDD, and was developed in response to the growing adoption for slim and higher capacity storage products required for notebook PCs, compact desktop PCs and consumer electronics.
The MHY2250BH series will begin shipping in the second quarter of 2007 and is expected to sell up to 10 million units worldwide during fiscal year 2007, which is the period from April 2007 to March 2008.
The latest Fujitsu SATA HDDs were developed for portable consumer electronics, where the key to success lies in reducing noise, vibration and power consumption. The MHY2250BH series addresses the demands of the rapidly developing high-end audio and video computing market, particularly in applications such as gaming, video editing, audio recording, DVR functionality and personal computing. Engineered using PMR technology, the new HDDs include best-in-class idle power consumption at 0.6W, as well as near-silent operation.
Additional benefits of the two-platter MHY2250BH series include an idle acoustic noise level of 2.4 bels, and low power consumption, operating at 1.6W or less when reading or writing data, the MHY2250BH series is among the best-in-class in terms of noise and energy efficiency. The latest high-capacity SATA HDDs deliver exceptional performance and reliability, making the series ideal for notebook PC and portable video recorder users.
"The 2.5" market continues to be a major focus for Fujitsu and the latest MHY2250BH mobile hard disk drive series is a direct result of the significant investments Fujitsu has made in its R&D efforts. This is yet another example of our commitment towards addressing a variety of demanding and wide-ranging storage needs and applications - through innovation," said Christopher So, General Manager, Sales Section of Volume Product, Fujitsu Hong Kong. "With this tremendous breakthrough in the latest small form factor HDD series, Fujitsu continues to expand the storage capacity of mobile products, meeting optimized performance, capacity and power needs of mobile computing and consumer electronics manufacturers and consumers."
