Fujitsu Unveils New PRIMERGY Servers Powered by Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors to Hong Kong Enterprises
Servers Achieve Industry Performance Standard with Superior Power Efficiency and Reliability to Address Power and Cooling Challenges
Hong Kong, April 11, 2007 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced four new dual socket PRIMERGY® servers that offer Fujitsu customers even more choices for highly reliable servers: tower model TX200 S3, rack-based models RX200 S3 and RX300 S3, and blade server BX620 S3. All servers feature the latest Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors E5310 and E5355, which deliver almost double the performance per watt over the latest generation of Intel dual-core processors. These new models are now available in Hong Kong, offering breakthrough performance, ease of management, cost optimization and operational efficiency for data centers required by Hong Kong enterprises.
The new Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors enable Fujitsu to raise the bar for performance per watt in PRIMERGY tower, rack and blade servers with only 80 watts of power consumption per processor socket. Users can now get more computing power from fewer servers, hence reducing heat and power consumption in the data centers, resulting in direct costs savings in the IT infrastructure. The embedded virtualization technology of the Intel Xeon processors delivers optimized support of virtual machines operating environments such as VMware and Xen. The PRIMERGY servers combine this technology with excellent performance, reliability and compatibility, making these servers ideal platforms for data center consolidation.
Powered by Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors, PRIMERGY dual socket servers have four cores per socket for a total of eight cores. Each socket contains 8 MB second level cache (2x4 MB) and support for front side bus speeds of up to 1,333 MHz - a real TPC-C performance boost of more than 30%, compared to latest Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors 5100 series.
"Fujitsu's new PRIMERGY servers with Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors represent a significant enhancement to our enterprise product portfolio and the next step in our TRIOLE® strategy aimed at providing power efficient data center performance and optimizing IT infrastructure," said Ms. Anita Chan, Marketing Manager, Fujitsu Hong Kong. "With the availability in tower, rack, and blade form factors, our PRIMERGY offering provides the widest range of performance choice for all customer demands, enabling our customers in Hong Kong choose the right solution for their specific needs."
