Fujitsu Delivers World's First 160GB 7,200 RPM 2.5" Hard Disk Drive to Hong Kong

Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) Technology Provides Notebook Users with the Experience of Unprecedented Desktop Performance and Functionality

Hong Kong, March 15, 2007 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused information technology and telecommunications solutions and services, today announced the global launch of the MHW2160BJ series of mobile hard disk drives (HDDs). The latest Fujitsu products feature industry-leading storage capacities of up to 160GB with rotational speed of 7,200 RPM, utilizing the industry’s first SATA 3.0Gb/s interface on 2.5" PMR hard disk drives to attain high levels of capacity.

The MHW2160BJ series will begin shipping in the second quarter of 2007 and is expected to sell up to 1.6 million units worldwide during fiscal year 2007. With the introduction of the 7,200RPM products, Fujitsu now offers a comprehensive portfolio of notebook hard disk drives featuring ultra-high capacity points up to 300GB and spindle speeds from 4,200RPM to 7,200RPM. Engineered using PMR technology, the new mobile HDDs will address the growing demand for higher performance and capacity laptop storage solutions.

In the 2.5" HDD drive market, the MHW2160BJ series top the industry with its data transmission speed of up to 300 MB/s. Additional benefits of the Fujitsu’s third family of PMR products include best-in-class acoustic noise level of 2.5 bels at idle, and low power consumption, operating at 2.3W or less when reading or writing data. Targeting primarily at high-performance notebook PC users, the new HDDs help to run graphic intensive applications and the increasing capacity of audio and video files, offering high quality, reliability and performance on par with those used in desktops.
