Fujitsu Establishes New Company in China to Aggressively Achieve IT Leadership Position in Mainland China and Hong Kong


Hong Kong, December 8, 2003 — Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, a leading provider of information technology and telecommunications (IT & T) solutions and services today announced the establishment of a new company Fujitsu (China) Holdings Co., Ltd. The new company will now oversee the IT & T business in Mainland China and Hong Kong, and aims to meet the needs of Fujitsu's customers in the territory.

The establishment of the new company represents another important step in Fujitsu's global business expansion and solidifies the company's presence to tap into the business potential in the region. It also shows Fujitsu's strong commitment to provide excellent IT & T infrastructure, services and software solutions to its growing customer base in both Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Fujitsu is among the top IT & T companies in the world with businesses spanning from platform solutions, semiconductors, telecommunications equipment, software to IT services. Acknowledging that customers' IT requirements in the region are shifting from a hardware-focused approach to more solutions and services-driven preference, the new company will leverage on Fujitsu's technology heritage, global expertise and well-established local teams to provide the best-of-breed IT & T solutions and services to help enterprises in the region grow their businesses and become more competitive in the marketplace.

Fujitsu (China) Holdings had been established to drive its business in Mainland China and Hong Kong. The new company was formed also to capitalize on the aggressive IT investment approach adopted by major domestic companies, particularly the need for a technology partner with strong IT& T solution and services, an area that Fujitsu has strong service offerings.

Bernard Kwok, had been appointed President & CEO of the new company, who has twenty-four years of experience in the IT, networking, and communications industries. Most recently, he was president of EMC for the China/Hong Kong region. He also has prior management experience at 3Com, Magnetek, and Nortel Networks.

"It is a great opportunity and challenging task to lead the region in driving the business. My main objective is to achieve higher growth rate through focused business strategies to solidify our leadership position in the market. With our strong workforce, comprehensive network of channel partners, and outstanding products, solutions and services, I'm confident that we can meet the needs of our growing customer base in the region," said Kwok.

The formation of the new company is part of Fujitsu's strategy to take a more aggressive approach to delivering IT services in China. "Fujitsu is transforming itself into a more market- and customer-driven entity. We will also accelerate localization of our operations in order to serve our customers even better. With these new business strategies, we will make Mainland China and Hong Kong a statement of Fujitsu's full capability," said Kwok
