Fujitsu Debuts the World’s Most Scalable and Powerful Storage Systems

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

News facts:

  • New ETERNUS DX enterprise storage solutions provide data centers with headroom for unpredictable data growth up to 14 petabytes
  • Over-provisioning is effectively replaced by pay-as-you-grow flexible scalability
  • Intelligent automation enables enterprises to manage more data at excellent service levels
  • Zero downtime is assured for business-critical data thanks to native transparent failover and end-to-end redundancy
Hong Kong, July 13, 2015

Fujitsu is enabling enterprises to push beyond the boundaries of unpredictable data growth into the double-digit petabyte range, with the introduction of the new FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS DX8700 S3 and DX8900 S3. Massively scalable, the new flagship of the ETERNUS DX family is purpose-built for enterprises that demand outstanding storage peak performance of up to 4 million Input/ Output Operations per Second (IOPS) and a huge capacity of up to 14 petabytes, paired with enterprise-class resiliency and always-on availability.

As storage-capacity planning becomes more unpredictable, businesses are demanding greater flexibility in scaling storage systems. The need to balance higher service level requirements for hosting corporate business data while minimizing total cost of ownership is demanding a new kind of storage architecture. Based on the most flexible pay-as-you-grow architecture on the market, these new systems allow data center customers to build up storage capacity ‘just in time’ – putting an end to over-provisioning and large upfront investments.

Derek Yiu, General Manager, Solutions and Services Business, Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, said, “Local and global enterprises are handling larger amount of data from day to day, and seeking for more effective, flexible and reliable storage solutions. Dedicated to deliver business-centric storage solutions, we are here to meet enterprises’ rising needs with the new Fujitsu ETERNUS DX enterprise storage systems and support them in business growth.”

Fujitsu’s new enterprise storage systems are also differentiated by unique automation and zero-downtime functions that set a new milestone in business-critical storage by guaranteeing maximum system utilization and contributing to a faster return on investment. With automated quality of service management, system performance levels can be allocated according to business priorities. This technology can also be used to support service level management for virtual servers. The brand new system architecture can cope with multiple component failures without any interruption to service. In conjunction with the unique transparent failover feature –ETERNUS Storage Cluster- non-stop operation despite a complete system or site failure is guaranteed.

Kenichi Sakai, Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise System Business Unit at Fujitsu, said, “Fujitsu is taking the lead in enterprise storage by delivering new dimensions of scalability, flexibility, automation and business continuity to underpin business-centric storage services. The new top-of-the-range systems, ETERNUS DX8700 S3 and ETERNUS DX8900 S3, are packed with innovations that will improve data management combined with greater efficiency resulting in future-proof platforms for storage consolidation in the data center.”

Archana Venkatraman, Senior Research Analyst, Storage at IDC said, "In today's highly virtualized and mixed workload environments, enterprises can benefit from using scale-out storage architectures that enable them to linearly scale capacity and/or performance independent of each other while keeping management simple and costs low. Large enterprises - with their no-compromise requirement around performance, resilience, quality of service management, high availability and reliability – are likely to rely on newer, more scalable iterations of established enterprise storage systems for their business-critical workloads.”
