Optimizing data and making the Cloud work for enterprise customers

Fujitsu Limited,Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

Guangdong, Nanhai, April 11, 2012

Fujitsu today announced the launch of its first data centre in China, the Fujitsu South China Data Centre. Located in the Guangdong High-Tech Service Zone for Financial Institutions, it is South China’s first Tier 3 plus data centre. Its investors are the Nanhai People’s Government of Foshan and Fujitsu, and it is managed and operated by Fujitsu South China Technology Services Ltd.

Masayuki Tomimuro, Regional CEO of China, said, “As the world’s third largest IT services provider, Fujitsu has a proud history in the design, construction and operation of intelligent data centres as well as data centre technology innovation. Fujitsu data centres around the world follow a unified certification system and operating standard. Backed up by 15 years of experience in global data centre services, Fujitsu is well positioned to provide world-class, green data centre expertise for clients seeking a flexible selection of services for their critical business data assets.”

China’s First World Class Data Centre

The Fujitsu South China Data Centre has a gross area of 12,200 square meters and uses earthquake resistant steel and concrete, with one subterranean floor and four above-ground levels. The overall area of the building is over 12,000 square meters and can house 1,000 racks in full operation.

The opening of the Fujitsu South China Data Centre provides corporate customers in the China region - especially those in South China - the best-in-class, efficient and secure IT systems and services. Today, companies based in China, be it foreign companies operating in China or Chinese companies with an eye on international expansion, are all looking to digitalization as a stepping stone to the global economy. The opening of the data centre is an innovative initiative by the traditionally manufacturing-heavy province of Guangdong to drive advanced manufacturing, modern services and financial services.

Fujitsu – Professional, One-Stop Service

Fujitsu operates over 100 highly secure and available, fully redundant data centres with more than 1 million square feet of raised floor space. In addition, Fujitsu provides a comprehensive line of products, including mainframes, servers, server clusters, storage systems, storage software, ETERNUS and GR management software as well as peripheral equipment. The data centre will also provide auxiliary facilities and a series of comprehensive solutions. Fujitsu is the pioneer to implement the ‘green data centre’ solution, reducing environmental burden by providing super-green IT equipment products and IT applications, helping customers greatly reduce their costs. With the gradual optimization of IT budgeting, Fujitsu has also reduced the cost of maintenance and IT equipment upgrades.

The new data centre eliminates customers’ dependence on network operators to provide server hosting. In addition, Fujitsu is able to provide its customers with world-class, highly dependable and high performance services thanks to improved control over power, equipment, entry systems, networks, middleware and systems, all locally controlled.

The Fujitsu South China Data Centre maintains the same high level of security and reliability as Fujitsu’s other global data centres. With a power supply reliability rate of 99.999%, the highest standard in China, we are able to ensure 24x7 operations. The data centre’s Diesel Rotary UPS only needs 1.5 seconds to start up fully, making it both supremely efficient and very environmentally friendly. Operation efficiency can be improved up to 96% with no chemical wastage and low emissions. Meanwhile, it is also connected to multiple network operators, eliminating the risk of network break. The data centre also uses geothermal techniques to fully utilize the natural environment as a cooling agent, lowering the amount of energy used on air conditioning and thereby the overall amount of electricity used.

The high-performance, fully outfitted data centre will allow Fujitsu to provide its customers with comprehensive data centre services from the ground up with targeted system planning, system design, system architecture and system application. A core facility for data centre services, the Fujitsu South China Data Centre will continue to drive the development of our customers’ business and enhance their competitiveness in the industry.

Our Feet Firmly in the Clouds

The Fujitsu South China Data Centre will provide customers with co-location and hosting services, managed services, project services and vendor management services. The data centre will not only reduce the pressure on system application for our customers in Asia, it will also act as a back-up location for the Japan-based systems of some companies, providing emergency back-up and data restoration services. This platform will also provide small and medium businesses with secure, stable cloud-based resources.

As of today, Fujitsu’s global standardized platform is used by organizations in six countries around the world. The Tatebayashi Data Centre in Japan provides a wide range of Japanese customers with dependable cloud services, while in Australia and New Zealand, Fujitsu is helping a major financial institution to speed up their transition to cloud computing. Fujitsu’s cloud services also provide a flexible option for independent software vendors, providing them with a platform that will get their products to customers. In South China, more and more manufacturers are demanding cloud services, especially in the areas of finance and human resources modules.

Going forward, the Fujitsu South China Data Centre will continue to deepen the company’s cooperation with the local government and local businesses. By integrating Fujitsu’s ETERNUS and PRIMERGY servers and storage systems, as well as top of the line cloud-management middleware Orchestrator, Fujitsu will work to provide high-performance cloud services to a wide range of locally-based businesses.

With our ‘feet in the clouds’, we will work to grow together with small and medium businesses in southern China. The growth and expansion of the local industry is the future of the Fujitsu South China Data Centre.
