Fujitsu introduces low-cost, compact disk array - GR710

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

Hong Kong, September 20, 2001

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited today introduces the GR710, a low-cost disk array system. It efficiently helps companies like Internet Data Center (IDCs), Internet Services Providers (ISPs), Application Service Providers (ASPs) and Storage Service Providers (SSPs), which have the Internet at their core to handle the ever-increasing amount of information. More important, GR710 employs a modular design enabling flexible scalability of disk array capacity which enables isolation of discrete sets of customer or application data, thereby ensures effective system management.

GR710

GR 710 is a new member to Fujitsu's SAN-family in the GR 700 series. It comes in a compact 3U height (approximately 13 centimeters) cabinet and has a maximum memory capacity of 286GB. The adoption of Fibre Channel drive interface enables high-speed data transmission of up to 100MB/second. The rack mount models allow the mounting of up to 10 units on a special-purpose rack for scalability of up to 2.8 terabytes, giving users enormous flexibility in choosing the configuration that best suits their needs.

Fujitsu's storage system framework emphasizes on flexible connectivity, dynamic scalability, continuous access and superior enterprise storage management. The GR 700 disk array series is developed for open system environments. It is a highly reliable disk array system with rich functions and thus can reduce the total cost of ownership. Besides, the SystemWalker™/StorageMGR software allows integrated management of the entire system including SAN. Storage integration using SAN not only makes it possible to connect to multiple servers of different types to create large-scale configurations, but also facilitates the effective management of storage resources through file sharing and the reduction of duplication data.

Apart from GR710, Fujitsu also offers a full range of product choices including GR 720, GR 730, and GR 740. GR 720 and GR 730 are for medium size companies while GR 740 is for large enterprise. All models are now available in Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, for further information please visit: http://www.fujitsu.com or call our Product Hotline: 2828 2833
