A. How do I add a Fujitsu SCSI drive in my system?
- Set option switches and jumpers required for your system having a SCSI interface meeting the ANSI X3T9.2 standard.
Note: The SCSI ID needs to be set for 0 through 6. ID 7 is reserved for the controller. - Set the drive termination to match your system configuration.
- Cable the drive to the controller with special attention to the location of pin 1 on the system / controller and the drive.
B. How do I configure a Fujitsu SCSI hard disc drive in my PC-AT compatible system?
- After setting the jumpers and switches for your drive, you will need to set the CMOS drive configuration as type 0, indicating no hard drive installed. Please check systems documentation for more details.
- From the DOS system prompt, run the FDISK and FORMAT programs to set the drive partitions and to install system boot files and applications.
C. Where can I get an updated SCSI driver for Fujitsu SCSI hard disk drive?
The SCSI driver is the responsibility of the host adapter manufacturer. Please refer to the documentation provided by the manufacturer for more details.
D. How do I configure a Fujitsu SCSI drive in my Macintosh system?
After setting the jumpers and switches for your drive, you will need to run a third party format utility to format the drive for the system level you are using, because the format utilities provided from Apple can only be used with Apple hard drives and will not be able to access the Fujitsu drive.
If problems are experienced with the Macintosh not recognising a drive then there are three options that in all probability will cure the erratic behaviour.
- Disable synchronous data transfer initiation from the drive
- Disable CHECK CONDITION posted on UNIT ATTENTION
- Set the SCSI level of the drive to SCSI-1/CCS
