Compatibility Status of ScanSnap S1500 / S1500M With Windows® 8

Note:
Windows® 8 includes both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the following OS editions:

  • Windows® 8
  • Windows® 8 Pro
  • Windows® 8 Enterprise

Compatibility Status

The latest software provided with ScanSnap S1500 / S1500M supports Windows® 8; however, some software precautions are provided and detailed below.

Note:
Apply the latest update prior to using ScanSnap with Windows® 8.

Software Precaution
Setup DVD-ROM installer (*1) The installation of .NET Framework 3.5 fails during the ScanSnap Software installation from the Setup DVD-ROM installer when Internet access is NOT present.

Workaround :
Install ScanSnap software from the Setup DVD-ROM installer with Internet access. During the installation, select to enable .NET Framework 3.5.
Manuals do not open even when the Manual buttons for each manual are selected in the Manuals menu of the Setup DVD-ROM installer.

Workaround :
Download from the ScanSnap Manual Download page. Or, open the folder in which the target manual is stored in the Setup DVD using the explorer. Then, double-click the target PDF file to open it.
ScanSnap Manager There is no precaution required.
(Windows® 8 is supported from V5.0L20)
ScanSnap Organizer There is no precaution required.
(Windows® 8 is supported from V4.1L11)
CardMinder There is no precaution required.
Scan to Microsoft SharePoint The installation of .NET Framework 3.5 fails during the Scan to Microsoft SharePoint installation when Internet access is NOT present.

Workaround :
Install Scan to Microsoft SharePoint with Internet access. During the installation, select to enable .NET Framework 3.5.
ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap™ There is no precaution required.

(*1) The Setup DVD-ROM installer is the one that can be started from the [ScanSnap Setup] dialog box that appears when the Setup DVD-ROM is inserted into the PC.
