This problem is caused by how your Microsoft Excel settings were set. Some methods of avoiding such problems are described
below (See Countermeasures).
[Phenomenon]
The following problems may occur when importing numeric data created by CardMinder into Microsoft Excel.

- "0"s appearing at the beginning of a numeric figure are deleted.
e.g. "03123456) becomes 3123456 on the Excel sheet (See figure 1)
- When numeric data contains mathematical symbols (such as + and -), the number becomes a mathematical expression that the Excel
sheet calculates.
e.g. "+1-030-1234-5678" is calculated and the result "-6941" appears in the Excel sheet cell.
Note: this problem is caused by how Microsoft Excel's settings have been set and not by CardMinder™.
[Countermeasures]
Use the following procedures when importing numeric data created by CardMinder™ into Microsoft Excel.

- When importing CSV format data into Microsoft Excel.
(The following procedure is appropriate for Microsoft Excel 2000 and the process may vary for other versions of Microsoft
Excel)

- Open Microsoft Excel and leave "Book 1" opened.
- Select "Import Text File" from "Get External Data", found under the "Data" tab.
- Select "All Files", which appears in the "Files of Type" window, found at the bottom of the "File Import Text"
dialogue box.
- Select the CSV file you created with CardMinder™.
- Choose "Delimited, Characters such as commas or tabs separate each field" from the "Original data type" section of
the "Text Import Wizard-Step 1 of 3" dialog box and then select "Next>".
- Select "comma" from the options appearing in the "Delimiters" section of the "Text Import Wizard-Step 2 of 3"
dialogue box and then click "Next >".
- Specify the number of digits for the appropriate columns, choose "Text" in the "Column data format" section of the
"Text Import Wizard-Step 3 of 3" dialogue box and finish by clicking "Finish."
- When the "Import Data" window appears, select "New worksheet" and click "OK".
- Make sure that numeric data has been correctly imported into the Excel sheet.

- When importing TEXT format data into Microsoft Excel.
(The following procedure is appropriate for Microsoft Excel 2000 and the process may vary for other versions of
Microsoft Excel)

- Open Microsoft Excel and leave "Book 1" opened.
- Select "Import Text File" from "Get External Data", found in the "Data" pull down menu or select "Open", found
in Microsoft Excel's "File" menu.
- Choose "TEXT files" in the "Files of Type" window, appearing either at the bottom of the "Import Text File" window
or "Open c" dialog box.
- Choose the TEXT file you created with CardMinder™.
- Choose "Delimited, Characters such as commas or tabs separate each field", appearing in the upper portion of the "Text
Import Wizard-Step 1 of 3" screen and then click "Next>".
- Choose "Tab", found in the "Delimiters" section found in the upper portion of the "Text Import Wizard-Step 2 of
3" and then click "Next >".
- Choose "Text", located in the "Column data format" section of the "Text Import Wizard-Step 3 of 3" dialog box,
to specify the number of digits for the column in question. (The "Column data format" section is located in the upper
right hand corner of this window) Then select "Finish."
- When the "Import Data" screen appears, choose "New worksheet" and click "OK".
Note : This screen will not appear if you chose "Open" during the first procedure.
- Make sure that numeric data has been correctly imported into the Excel sheet.
