| Q11. | When using fi-4860C/fi-4990C with KOFAX VRS3.0 (Mid-Volume Bundle), the scanner hangs up when the TWAIN driver has been installed. |

| A11. | Cause When the Fujitsu TWAIN driver is installed and "Disable device events" is not selected, the TWAIN driver supervises the "Start" button of the scanner. When the TWAIN driver starts supervising the scanner during operation, the VRS may not be able to respond and the scanner operation may hang up. |

How to recover from this problem
When you use VRS 3.0, please perform either of the following two measures.
(1) When there is fi-4860C/fi-4990C in the "scanners and cameras" of the Windows control panel (When STI driver is installed).
Please open the properties of the scanner in "scanners and cameras" and confirm if the "Disable device events" in
the Events tub is selected or not. (See the figures)
If not, please check the box for "Disable device events" and click either "OK" or "Apply"
Then, please reboot Windows.

(2) When the Fujitsu Scanner Control Center is present. (When the ASPI driver is installed.)
Please make sure that the following "Fujitsu Scanner Control Center" icon appears on the task bar.

Please right click and close the above icon, or if the Fujitsu TWAIN driver is not required, please uninstall the "Scanner
Utility for Microsoft Windows" from the "Add/remove programs" in the Control panel.
