1. Advanced Clarity Capabilities Extended
   Two new capabilities are available when you select Advanced Clarity:
   
   • Analyze Color:
     For pages that contain a color background or color text, this option produces optimal black and white images by including subtle color content variations in the page evaluation. Otherwise, only grayscale variations are evaluated.
   • Ignore Pictures:
     Ignores pictures or photos when VRS evaluates the page content.As a result, the clarity improvements are applied to other (non-picture) content on the page.
2. Improved Kofax VRS ISIS interface with extended VRS profile management options.
3. Improved Edge Cleanup
   When Edge Cleanup is active, VRS trims the same amount of pixels from the top, bottom, left, and right edges of an image to ensure that no imperfections remain after Auto Crop is performed.
4. The Automatic Color Detection feature now offers improved sensitivity to ensure accurate detection of color or black and white images.
5. Support for the TWAIN 2.0 standard.
6. Some problems in PFU VRS4.2 from an ISIS application are corrected.

Notice

This patch is only applied to the VRS professional version which is bundled with our FUJITSU scanners. Note that this patch cannot be applied to VRS4.1 Basic.

How to use

1. Begin by logging in as an "Administrator".
2. Download "VRS4.5 Professional" onto your computer's desktop and then proceed to activate it. (Make sure that VRS is not running when you do this.)

Modifications

1. Addition of VRS Desktop Productivity function
   
   • Scan to desktop
     - Scanning from the desktop and the context menu of the specified foler is enabled.
   • Scan to e-mail
     - The addition of VRS button to E-mail (Microsoft® Outlook 2003 / XP/ 2007 or Lotus Notes 6.x) enables scanning and attaching the image without using another scanner application.
2. Delete Blank Pages
   The function to delete the blank page when using Image Control application is supported.
3. Addition of the supported file formats
   The follwing file formats to save are newly supported.
   
   • .png, .gif, .dcx, .lzw
4. Improvement on TWAIN application
   UI when using TWAIN application is modified in order to improve the usability.

Before Downloading - Software License Agreement Required

Since users are required to accept the terms declared in the software license agreement prior to downloading this software, please read "terms of the Software license agreement" beforehand.

Modifications

The following errors are modified.

1. In Windows Vista, if the user selects the scanner source in an application where VRS is used via ISIS (e.g. ScandAll PRO), it displays a message which indicates that all Windows applications are closing.
2. Its performance with Auto Page Orientation enabled becomes slow compared to versions prior to SP2, depending on the contents of the documents or the direction that the documents are fed in.

How to use Service Pack 2 Patch

1. Begin by logging in as an "Administrator".
2. Download "SP2 Patch" onto your computer's desktop and then proceed to activate it.
   (Make sure that VRS4.1 is not running when you do this.)
3. An "Update" dialogue box will inform you when the "SP2 Patch" update has been completed.

2. Punched hole removal
   Detects and removes punched hole marks from scanned images.

2. Download "SP2 (vrs_4.1_sp2_pfu_oem_bundle.exe)" onto your computer's desktop and then proceed to activate it.
   (Make sure that VRS4.1 is not running when you do this.)
3. An "Update" dialogue box will inform you when the "SP2" update has been completed.
