FETEX-150 E-CUBE

The FETEX-150 E-Cube is the ideal switch for service providers' core networks. It can be used in an ATM, STM or Hybrid Configuration.
The Hybrid Configuration allows the integration of voice and data services over the public network. E-Cube can also be used
as an intelligent networking platform, functioning as a Super Service Node.
E-Cube realizes a large capacity transit switch (256,000 trunks) and local switch (512,000 subscribers + 128,000 trunks).
As a hybrid switch, it also switches ATM traffic from 10Gbps up to 160Gbps. In fact, E-Cube switches ATM cells equivalent
to about 36,000 MPEG2 motion picture channels (at 160Gbps). Moreover, rigorous new standards of reliability have been added
to this large capacity so that networks operate smoother than ever before. Call Processing Outage is less than 0.32 minutes
per year.
E-Cube software features a number of enhancements. For example, its on-line software architecture uses a layered structure
and object oriented programming so users can more easily modify their network and shorten their time to market for new services.
E-Cube also uses partitioning to limit effects to one call in order to avoid "total system down" problems. The sophisticated
Service Development System Software uses an easy to understand flowchart format that can be converted to execution format
- users simply modify and add features as they wish. Operators can monitor E-Cube from over a network with remote access,
and maintenance tasks have been made easier with the use of a graphical user interface (GUI) and on-line help.
E-Cube uses ATM technology for its switching fabric. This technology provides the higher quality required by public network
Service Level Agreements. ATM also facilitates the smooth integration of legacy network services and equipment, and the use
of Multiple Protocol Label Switching technology allows the provision of differentiated services even for Internet Protocol
traffic. Using E-Cube in the core network greatly decreases network operating costs and makes possible the introduction of
next generation network services.
