The FETEX-150 digital switching system has the latest design - providing easy operation and maintenance, advanced capabilities, and highly-reliable operation. The system has been developed to serve as the intelligent node for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and Intelligent Network (IN).

Demands of the information age require more advanced and diversified communication networks. This requirement is answered with digital networks, achieved by harmonious integration of advanced switching and Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) transmission technologies.

Phenomenal growth in the application of PCM technology to carrier facilities, coupled with in rapid development of Large Scale Integration (LSI) semiconductor technology, and advantages such as low cost, high performance, and high reliability, have stimulated considerable interest in a totally integrated digital network, as illustrated in Figure 1.1.

Introduction of a digital switching system is influenced by the transmission environment. As digitalization of transmission facilities increases, the more economical the introduction of digital switching system becomes.

Introduction of remote line concentrator and remote line multiplexer greatly reduces subscriber loop cable length and concentrates several thousand subscriber lines on to a few PCM lines. This enables economic alexpansion in urban and rural areas, and allows easy introduction of new services to a wide area.
