Correction Module

ATLAS V14.0 L10 Update Pack U001

This update pack applies to ATLAS V14 contained in the versions listed below and contains fixes for all known bugs.

  • ATLAS Translation Standard V14
  • ATLAS Super Pack V14
  • ATLAS Translation Standard Upgrade Kit V14
  • ATLAS Super Pack Upgrade Kit V14

OS

This update pack is designed to run on Windows(R) 2000, Windows(R) XP, Windows Vista(R) systems.

Notes on Applying the Update Pack

  • Apply all the correction files included with the update pack.
  • This Update Pack includes ATLAS Emergency Patch TK00199. You can apply this Update Pack to systems that TK00199 has already been applied to.
  • Do not execute the update pack to the application system when any "individual" correction programs have been applied. Please contact the provider of the previous correction program before executing this update pack.
  • This update should be activated by a user with administrator status.
  • Reinstall the update pack after reinstallation, modification, or recovery of ATLAS.

List of Bug Fixes

  • Internet Explorer 8 is now supported.
  • Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9 are now supported.
  • Lotus Notes R6.5.6/7.0.3/8.0.0/8.0.1/8.0.2/8.5 are now supported in Mail Translation function.
  • Windows Live Mail Version 2009 is now supported in Mail Translation function.
  • SSL/SOCKS V4/PROXY authentication are now supported in connection to Translation Server.
  • Microsoft Office 2007 SP2 is now supported in Office Translation function.
  • A problem was fixed that searching translation memory might abend when Windows user account name includes a double-byte character.
  • A problem was fixed that uploading/downloading dictionaries might not work when a common folder or a duplicated folder for common dictionaries has 4 giga byte or more free disk space.
  • A problem was fixed that translated UTF-8 mails were garbled when Mail Translation function was used with Becky! Internet Mail.
  • A problem was fixed that outgoing mails cannot be translated when Mail Translation function was used with Becky! Internet Mail Ver2.5.
  • Heap memory fragmentation in Translation Engine was suppressed when it works continuously for a long time.
  • A problem was fixed that Translation Engine might split data into sentences at wrong positions.
    • Data contains abnormal characters.
    • Data contains blank characters or the like.
    • Data contains some specific Japanese characters.
  • A problem was fixed that splitting abnormal data into sentences might go into an infinite loop.
  • A problem was fixed that setting in "How to recognize sentence end?" in "Line feed (text file only)" in Detail Settings was valid for translation of Office documents.
  • A problem was fixed that selecting [Detailed View] for long translation memory data in [Translation Memory] window might cause abend.
  • A problem was fixed that translating HTML documents might abend in the following cases.
    • HTML documents contain a very long HTML tag.
    • HTML documents contain nested HTML tags.
    • HTML documents contain a very long sentence.
    • HTML documents contain a series of HTML tags for which the total length of their attribute values to be translated is very large.
  • A problem was fixed that ATLAS might abend when it translates specific sentences.
  • A problem was fixed that ATLAS might abend when it translates a sentence which includes an unregistered word containing alphabetic characters and symbols.
  • A problem was fixed that ATLAS might abend when it translates a sentence which includes an unregistered word which contains a long series of Japanese syllabary characters.
  • A problem was fixed that extracting data from a user dictionary which contains a very long word might abend.
  • A problem was fixed that Acrobat Translation might not be able to translate documents because of an internal error in Acrobat.

Setup

  • Downloading the Update Pack
    1. Create a new folder on the hard disk for the self-extracting file (ex. C:\temp).
    2. Click on the link below to start the download.
      Select "Save" and select the folder (C:\temp) to save the downloaded files.

  • Extracting the Update Pack
    1. Open the folder containing the downloaded files (C:\temp).
    2. Double click ATL14U1E.EXE. When extracted, a folder entitled ATLASV14U001E is created inside C:\temp. The following files are created in this folder.
      • NOTE_EN.TXT…Update pack notes
      • README_EN.TXT…Important information to read when using this product and product-specific instructions
      • UPDATE_EN.TXT…List of corrections, Update module list
      • UPDATE.EXE…Correction application module
  • Installing the Update Pack
    1. Close Internet Explorer and all other applications.
    2. Double click UPDATE.EXE, which was extracted in C:\temp\ATLASV14U001E to apply the corrections to ATLAS.
      When the Windows Vista User Account Control dialog box appears, check that "ATLAS V14.0 L10" and "FUJITSU LIMITED" appear and click "Continue".
    3. Click "Next" and the "Update Pack Application Manual" is displayed.
      Click "Next" after confirming the content.
    4. The "Ready to Install the Program" window appears. Click "Install".
    5. The correction module begins to install. When finished, "InstallShield Wizard Complete" appears. Click the "Finish" button.

Setup is complete.

Points of Concern

  • Compatibility
    • User Data Compatibility
      There are no known adverse effects with user data.
    • System Definition File Compatibility
      There are no known adverse effects with the definition files.
    • Other Compatibility Issues
      • Applying this Update Pack adds user interface (radio buttons, check boxes, text boxes and so on) for SSL/Socks connection settings to [ATLAS Configure Server Connection] dialog box.
      • The specification is changed to new one that ON/OFF status of [Auto Translation] of ATLAS Tool Bar in Internet Explorer is kept with each tab in each window. New tabs/windows are opened with the status that [Auto Translation] is OFF.
  • After updating, you may delete files and folders created in C:\temp\ATLASV14U001E. However, NOTE_EN.TXT, README_EN.TXT and UPDATE_EN.TXT contain information about the update. View the contents before deleting.
  • With Lotus Notes 8.0.0/8.0.1 Standard Version, Mail Translation function cannot be used when a HTML Mail is displayed in the preview pane. For HTML Mails, please use Mail Translation function when they are opened.
  • With Windows Live Mail, Mail Translation function works for message bodies only.
  • Applying this Update Pack make SSL/SOCKS V4 available in connection to Translation Server.
    • Translation Server must be Accela BizLingo V3.0 U003 or later.
    • When Translation Server uses SSL connection, select [HTTPS] in [Translation Server] in [ATLAS Configure Server Connection] dialog box in ATLAS.
    • When Translation Server connects via SOCKS Server, check [Using Proxy Server] in [ATLAS Configure Server Connection] dialog box in ATLAS, then check [Use Socks]. Also, [Address] and [Port] must be set in [Using Proxy Server].
    • Though applying this Update Pack changes [ATLAS Configure Server Connection] dialog box, corresponding help and User's Guide are not provided.
  • Users with JIS2004 based new characters in their user names cannot run ATLAS.
  • This update pack is not compatible with the new JIS2004 characters (Windows version-specific characters), which were added to Windows Vista.
    • Use the following tips to ensure JIS2004 characters are not entered.
      • When using Microsoft IME, do not use characters in the candidate list marked as "環境依存文字(unicode)" (Windows version-specific characters).
      • In the Microsoft IME character restriction settings ("変換文字制限") check "JIS X 0208文字で構成された単語/文字のみ変換候補に表示する" (Only display JIS X 0208 characters/words as conversion candidates) to set these characters to not be displayed.
    • The following errors will occur if JIS2004 characters are used.
      • These characters will not be translated correctly. JIS2004 characters will be garbled and may appear as question marks, etc.
      • Any data containing these characters cannot be correctly added to dictionaries as dictionary entries or translation memory.
      • Files containing these characters in their file path or name cannot be opened, saved or translated.
